Hidden Gems: Meet Carmen and Larry Aridas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen and Larry Aridas.

Carmen and Larry, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Carmen obtained her Real Estate license in 1992 in order to have a career that would be flexible enough to drop off and pick up our children from school and to spend time as needed with them without being tied to an office or desk. Meanwhile, I was working in the Hospitality Industry, mostly at nights, and obtained my Real Estate license in 1994. I would be Carmen’s assistant for the next several years during the day while continuing to work nights. In 1998, Carmen was ready for us to take the plunge and have me leave the restaurant, and the steady income, to switch to commissioned income with three children. Carmen’s is highly motivated with exceptional worth ethic. Failure was not an option. Our fast-paced New York mentality, being bilingual, and living in a city that was only in its first 25% of growth was the perfect storm for the two of us while we put our three kids through private school. Back then, prices were not the same as they are today, so we became accustomed to selling volume. In the past 25 years, we have continued to help over 100 families a year through real estate transactions, all the while still fulfilling our original intention of spending time with our kids.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We are blessed to be in the position that we are in today. However, we have certainly endured the uglier side of the real estate market. 9/11 and the collapse of the Housing Market between 2008-2012 presented challenges we had never encountered before. 2020 presented similar challenges. However, the good has been great and we have been and continue to be blessed to do what we do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are fortunate to be in the position we are in. For others, a transaction may be their next mortgage payment or the next tank of gas in their car. Plenty of agents NEED to put their own needs before their clients. We have no such compunction to do so. We are most known for talking clients OUT of buying or selling a home. We have no problem telling a client when a transaction they are looking to make is not in their best interest. We have generated our success on a client-focused, client-centered. As we say, when you work with the Aridas Team, it is “Your Dream, Our Team.”

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Nothing makes us happier than seeing the look on a client’s face or mask when they complete their transaction, especially the firsts. Whether it is a young couple buying their dream home or the children of that same couple 20 years later purchasing their first dream home, nothing brings us more joy than being able to guide folks closer to their dreams. The closing table is a source of many of our biggest smiles. On a personal note, Running makes me happy, I have completed ten full marathons and am 2 away from The Abbott World Majors Medal, which is awarded at the completion of 6 International races. I have already completed New York, Chicago, Berlin, Boston and Tokyo is scheduled for October 2021 and London in April 2022 after being postponed in 2020. Look out for my running videos on our Facebook page #RunningRealtor.
