Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Guillet.
Hi Simone, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Passion, Determination, and Faith! The three values that have always been apart of my journey. I’ve always had dreams of having a career in the helping profession. It took me a while to find my true purpose, but I’ve always known what I was passionate about. In 2011, I relocated my family to Florida from New York. I worked in the child welfare system for over ten years in various leadership positions. I found so much gratitude and appreciation for helping others overcome their challenges. I wanted to do more but didn’t know at that time what that would be. If you would’ve asked me back then or even two years ago, being a therapist was never a thought.
In 2011, I pursued my Master’s in Social Work and it was not until I got into my clinical semesters that I started to see the impact I can make in the community as a Social Worker. Fast forward to 2019, I graduated and obtained an opportunity to be a Therapist for children. During the pandemic, I had a chance to truly reflect and explore how can I support children who struggled to adjust to the multiple changes in our world. This birthed my business and nurtured my passion by curating and allowing a safe space for people to process and grow into the best version of themselves.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
From fear to faith! I see many of my obstacles and challenges to be apart of my journey. Does it define me, No! It’s my journey and it reveals my strengths as an individual. I had an amazing childhood and a supportive family. Being a teenage mother, I was determined to be the positive example in my daughter’s life and beat the odds to pursue my dreams no matter what. That is exactly what I did. Now as a mother of three beautiful girls, each daughter represents an accomplishment in my life, I have been able to be an amazing role model to them. My husband and family highlighted a lot of my strengths and always pushed me towards my goals. It hasn’t been an easy road at all, but one thing that continued to motivate me was my family and my self-determination. I have truly been blessed with a small but powerful support system. Even though I have dealt with imposter syndrome, I have been able to evolve and nurture my passion by helping others find their purpose and/or rediscover themselves.
We’ve been impressed with Beyond Balance Counseling Solutions, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Beyond Balance Counseling Solutions is a safe space we’ve created for people to process and grow into the best version of themselves. We provide individualized counseling to teenagers, young adults, and millennials and tailor our therapeutic techniques to cater to each individual needs. We value connection, trust, and authenticity. Our Mission is to empower individuals to be their best selves while discovering ways of thinking and responding to challenging situations. Whether they struggled with anxiety, managing depression, or everyday stressors, I collaborate with clients to meet their needs and support parents to better understand their child’s needs and achieve a balance between being a parent and a confidant, with a belief that there is “Mo-in-therapy”.
What sets me apart from others is my unique style of therapy! I have a down-to-earth vibe, easy to talk to nature, and a no-nonsense style of therapy that opens the mind of others to develop a better understanding of themselves. As I approach my one year in practice, I am looking forward to launching an adolescent support group. MADE: It’s A Girl Thang is not therapy, but the vision! The curated vision & space for every teen girl intended to provide a safe place to talk with peers dealing with similar issues with the support and guidance by an adult facilitator, while feeling accepted, heard, and understood. We aim to help girls learn life skills that will help them boost self-confidence, strengthen interpersonal relationships, develop empathy and connectedness, and cope more effectively with daily stressors. I want them to know they are neither too much nor not enough for this world!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Coming from New York, the adjustment was different. Orlando and New York are completely night and day. However, I love the family-oriented setting of Orlando. I am very big on family. So living in Florida provides me opportunities to find ways to make memories with my children. As an adult, I love the slow pace of the city because I get to cherish the time I do have and I don’t have to constantly feel like time is against me. Oh and let’s not forget about the weather! I love the weather, especially the fall time. it’s not too hot, it’s just right. the evolving art culture In the city is also inspiring and amazing. One thing I dislike is the tolls, lol, everywhere you go there is a toll. But the positives always out weigh the negative!
