Daily Inspiration: Meet William Morris

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Morris.

Hi William, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for creating and building with my hands. As I got older and went to college, I found a love for graphic design and the psychology that comes with marketing and connecting with consumers. I never thought I’d to make a living at this, but it started when I couldn’t find a person for designing a flyer for a college concert and I ended up teaching myself and completing the project. Then it snowballed into designing logos to strategizing long-term marketing goals. I am a New Jersian who has been transplanted in Orlando ten years strong, for the reason of pursuing my dreams. I attained my Masters in Entertainment a business from Full Sail University and a bachelor’s in Marketing from the College of New Jersey, I have failed plenty times as an Entrepreneur but many losses set me up for great wins. Now with over 11 years of experience in digital marketing and events, I’ve handled over $100,000 in budgets, worked in diverse marketing settings, all while gaining vast experience in developing eye-catching branding, SEO best practices, web design, paid advertising, email marketing and digital strategy for artists, small businesses, and churches. I love what I do, and the best part of it all is I am still learning, and I am connecting with some amazing people.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not smooth at all but the scenic routes with bumps in the road are always the best and create great memories. These show you how to do better next time. I have had an investor back out the week of an event after over two months of promotion. I have dropped the ball with time management in completing projects, and I have had to restructure my business pipeline process. All these things I learned on the job. I learn from mentors, but most of the time, you have to take the first step and create a path to success as you go. Or else you’ll never take a leap towards success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Simply I am a creative that mentors other creatives. I also help small businesses and entrepreneurs elevate their brands through marketing strategy, social media, and creative design. I am known for my out-of-the-box thinking and creating effective business systems with shoestring budgets. I am most proud of the impact I have on other creatives. Letting them know that they can use what they have and be successful. I’m living proof. What sets me apart from others is I am ok with losing. I mean learning. Learning and building strong, genuine relationships with others are key currency to sustain any entrepreneur for the long term. When I had no money, my relationships became the funds I needed to move forward.

How do you think about happiness?
Pursuing purpose. Doing what I love and connecting with other creatives who are doing the same. Doing this makes me happy because purpose and others make life worthwhile when other aspects of life are falling apart.
