Today we’d like to introduce you to Teala Tealily.
Hi Teala, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
First I would like to thank the wonderful photographer Rob Nelson for recommending me. I’m a former photographer that is an organizer and model. I was involved with a modeling and photography group where I was a model. I used to give the organizer several ideas for themes. The group didn’t last long.
A couple of years after that I was introduced to another modeling and photography group that didn’t really do the themes that I was used to, but I wanted to try a new genre to add to my portfolio.
That group didn’t work out, for me, but a model that I knew, from my 1st group, suggested that I start my own group since I always had great ideas for themes! I took her advice and I’ve been running my own modeling and photography group for the past 8 1/2 years.
As an organizer I recruit models and photographers, find locations to hold photoshoots, network, make sure that all models are getting photographed. I don’t have the typical model look, so I like to give all types of looks a chance whether they are plus size, older models, child models, petite models, LGBT models, male models, etc. I believe that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.
I’m happy to say that I and some of my other models and photographers have been published, from my photoshoots, and some models have also been scouted. Some have even moved on to bigger and better things which I’m proud of. I like to help people build their portfolios so that they can get experience and get bigger and better things for themselves! And the models and I have amazing pictures!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When I first started my group I had people telling me how to organize my group. The thing is that my group wasn’t the first time I have organized photo shoots. Previous to starting my group I had organized 2 photoshoots, for Susan G. Komen, breast cancer survivors, and their families and friends. Nicknamed the shoots “Model For The Day!”
Anyway, with my group, I tried to please every request that people told me, but after a while, I got tired of that and told people that I know how to organize and if they didn’t like how I did it not to come back or I just didn’t invite them back anymore.
Organizing is harder than people realize. People don’t understand how much work goes into it. Now I have people who respect my vision. If they don’t, I don’t invite them back. I have to have peace of mind and the shoots have to be fun for everyone!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I organize my own modeling and photography group. I’m known for putting together and organizing photo shoots. Also recruiting models and photographers as well as scouting locations and helping both build their portfolios. What sets me apart is that I like to get different types of models. Not just the skinny, young, tall types. I would like others to know that I’m always looking for new talent.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up in the 80s and it was a fun time! Loved hanging out, with friends, while we listened to the music of the time!
