Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana Andino.
Tiana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began when I started suffering from cystic acne, because of this I became eager to learn about skin care. After graduating high school I immediately knew I wanted to enroll in beauty school. While studying, I was introduced to eyelash extensions through a fellow classmate who was completing the program to specialize in lashes. I got my own lashes done for the first time, and I fell in love. I knew that I had to take a course so I can make others feel how I felt which was naturally beautiful.
After becoming a licensed esthetician and certified in Eyelash extensions, I took a job offer with a reputable lash company. I worked there for 3 months and quickly realized how a lot of big companies only care about the money and not about quality work or customer satisfaction. I decided I would invest in myself and purchase all the supplies and equipment needed to start on my own. I set up studio in my apartment dining area and made it work. My goal was to make getting your lashes done a more thorough and personable experience. Where clients can feel not only comfortable but valued.
I worked from home for 1 year and built up a clientele while saving money to be able to rent my own salon suite. I have been renting my own suites for 4 years now and recently started educating others to learn the skill of lashes and start their own legacy. I truly love that being a lash artist and educator allows me to bring happiness to others and create lasting relationships with amazing women.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am today has not been easy. As a solo entrepreneur, we wear all the hats while going through personal life changes. You have to keep your eyes on your main goal and be consistent no matter what is going on behind the scenes, and that is a struggle in itself. I am constantly trying to better my business in all aspects and not get comfortable, even if that means relocating multiple times to find the best place Eye Blink Beautifully can call home long-term.
We’ve been impressed with Eye Blink Beautifully, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Eye Blink Beautifully is an eyelash salon that specializes in quality lash extensions. I am known for creating lash sets that are not only natural but really complimenting your eye shape and not overpower them. Eyelash extensions are not a one size fits all and proper styling can make all the difference. I am most proud of my ability to provide neat, healthy, and long-lasting custom sets for each individual client.
We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
Risk-taking is well… quite risky. Our minds immediately go to the fear and the possible what if this doesn’t work out? I think taking a risk can be scary, but when you believe in something wholeheartedly and have a vision the biggest risk would be not taking one at all. A major risk I’ve taken has been deciding to go solo, quitting my Job, and going full-time into something I am passionate about. I am grateful for the risks that I have taken so far and I know there will be many more risks I will have to take to reach the goals I have set. Even if I fail, I’ve not only learned but also gained experience. My advice is to throw away your fear and take the risk because we only regret the chances we don’t take.
