Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenni Parady.
Hi Jenni, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a book nerd. I love them. I make books come to life through food, travel and book clubs. Have you ever finished a book, put it down and just needed more? Where the Crawdads Sing did this to me. So I decided I wanted more and recreated recipes from foods mentioned in the book. Then I traveled to a small marsh town in North Carolina, where I explored a fire tower and an historical jail. I went kayaking in the marsh. I relived a lot of the experiences that Kaya had in the book and brought Delia Owens vision to life. It was magical. I wanted to share this with everyone!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My original vision was to travel to book settings and bring my audience along. Four months into the process, Covid hit and lockdowns began. I focused on recreating food aspects of the books, which has been super fun but I really look forward to traveling to my favorite book settings again.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a foodie as well as a book nerd so the kitchen is my happy place. Creating recipes from books has been challenging and fun. I’m known for my Review and a Recipe videos where I review a book while make a recipe relating to it. I’m most proud of my Queen’s Gambit Tranquilizer cocktail video being picked up by Buzzfeed. It’s one of my favorite recipes that I’ve created. I haven’t seen any other book-inspired travel/food blogs so I think that sets me apart.
What matters most to you? Why?
The craziness of this past year has made me appreciate spending time with my family, heath and being authentic to myself.
