Meet Danielle Newbold of Miles To Go

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Newbold.

Hi Danielle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Miles To Go is an IRS recognized 501c3 which was started by my then 9-year-old son, Miles, and myself. Miles wanted to give cash when we encountered people that were in need. After explaining to him why that might not be the best way to help, he came up with Miles To Go, bags of essentials for the unsheltered. MTG will celebrate our 3rd anniversary with a bag packing event on February 6th, 2021. To date, with the help of our generous community, we have packed & distributed over 5000 MTG bags to those in the most need. We happily offer community service hours to school children and invite even the youngest kids to participate. Our mission is to “spread love, one bag at a time”. This love is most obviously spread to the recipient of this gift (each bag is valued at about $35), but also to the person giving the gift. This act closes the gap and created community and love between a previously disconnected pairing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Miles To Go has become a full-time job for me. I work countless hours and do not take a salary or any compensation at all. My payment is a full heart and always will be. This ensures that every penny goes to funding our MTG bags. We also have the best volunteers donating their time and talents. Such as our artist, Melanie Torres! One challenge is fundraising. We do not plan to have an expensive annual gala so how did we meet that challenge? We developed a product line of positive, inspiring, comfortable apparel. One hundred percent of the profits go to making MTG bags! We have an online shop along with a retail shop at 6651 Vineland Rd suite 170 in Orlando. Another huge supporter of ours is Orlando Body & Movement Therapy. We share a space with them and their reception staff takes care of our MTG customers at no charge to the charity!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Miles To Go?
MTG apparel line is the softest, highest quality gear for the whole family. We pride ourselves on our originality and positive spirit! 100% of our profits go to making MTG bags of essentials for the homeless.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Sarah Ruggieri, board member and owner of Sundance Graphics. Sundance generously produces our paper collateral. Melanie Torres, our graphic artist, translates my ideas from my mind to beautiful art for our tees! Zulma Candelaria, bookkeeping Jessica Londoño & Sergio Santos, IT Laura Brulotte, accounting Nina Yon & Stacey Papp, mentors Shannon Gunn, Tammara Kohler, Britney Odum, Terri Costigan Marcy & Bryce Ready, Tamara Zotti, Laila Maali, Gabriela Rosario… we have a long list of people to be grateful for!
