Today we’d like to introduce you to Ally Aboud.
Hi Ally, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m originally from Northern California and moved to Florida in 2013. I’ve always had a love for event planning and decorating! I would throw parties for every single holiday- no joke. I love putting together events where I can spend time with the important people in my life, create awesome memories, take 1000 pictures, and deck out my entire house in decorations.
I’ve also wanted to own my own business since high school! I thought what better than to start my own little event planning business! Then A Picnic Affair was born! I set up pop up picnics all over the Brevard County area (where I call home) for people to enjoy with their friends & family! It has brought me so much joy to watch my small business grow. I have an amazing supportive husband, Josh, that cheers me on along the way and builds me picnic perfect low tables! I spend hours picking out the perfect supplies and putting together tablescapes to create one of a kind picnic experiences for my clients!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A Picnic Affair is the first business I have ever owned! I started it in June 2020 after losing my job due to covid layoffs. It has definitely been a learning process for me as I go, trial and error is a great way to learn and grow! Thankfully it has been pretty smooth sailing so far (knock on wood) and I’m so grateful for all of the support of my customers and community for helping me grow my business!

I am the creator and owner of A Picnic Affair, a styled pop up picnic experience for any occasion! Located in Brevard County, Florida. We set up the perfect backdrop for any event whether it’s a birthday celebration, bachelorette party, anniversary, date night or proposal! We offer a variety of styles and menu options to choose from to create a one of a kind picnic experience! Picnics are a perfect way to spend quality time with your friends and family and a great way to make lasting memories! No work, no cleanup & a great view!
How do you think about luck?
I didn’t have the best of luck in 2020. My husband and I had an amazing trip to Europe planned out and paid for when everything became shut down and canceled due to covid. This was the last thing on our to do list before starting a family! Shortly after we both lost our jobs (we worked for the same company) they had to let 17 people go, including us, due to the pandemic. My husband found a job shortly after thankfully and I decided to peruse owning my own business-A Picnic Affair! Things started looking up! Owning my own business has been a dream of mine since high school, and it genuinely makes me so happy being able to live out this goal of mine! I do believe it’s not all about luck, I had to put a lot of time and effort and heavy lifting into growing my business. It’s still a lot of work each day being the main point of contact, marketing department, photographer, social media manager! But it’s worth every minute when I see how far I’ve come and how far it’s going!
