An Inspired Chat with Christina Barr of Apopka

We recently had the chance to connect with Christina Barr and have shared our conversation below.

Christina, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
One of the most meaningful moments was giving a couple the chance to experience a real wedding through a styled shoot. They had been married before at the courthouse and never had the opportunity to celebrate with a full wedding. Watching them step into this styled shoot and fully embrace the moment was unforgettable. The expressions on their faces said it all; the joy, gratitude, and appreciation they showed added authenticity that elevated the entire shoot.

Being able to provide them with the look and feel of a wedding they had never experienced before was truly breathtaking. It reminded me why I do what I do, creating memories, telling love stories, and curating moments that people will cherish forever. What was planned as a styled shoot turned into something much more heartfelt, a celebration that gave this couple a taste of the wedding day they had always dreamed of.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Christina Barr, the founder of MyLuvh Wedding & Events, a wedding planning business based in Orlando, Florida. I started this company because I genuinely love planning, helping others, and creating moments that matter, the kind of moments people carry with them for the rest of their lives.

At MyLuvh, we don’t just plan weddings; we design experiences that feel personal, intentional, and unforgettable. Every couple is different, and we make sure their wedding reflects who they are, not just what’s trending. What makes us unique is how deeply we care about the details, the emotions, and the people involved. It’s not about putting on a show, it’s about making something real, meaningful, and beautiful.

Right now, we’re expanding our services and working on a few exciting collaborations with local vendors to bring even more value to our clients. Orlando has such a vibrant wedding scene, and I’m proud that MyLuvh gets to be part of it.

Whether it’s an intimate backyard ceremony or a large-scale celebration, my goal is always the same: to bring calm to the chaos, joy to the journey, and love to every last detail.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband and I fell in love as high school sweethearts, sharing laughter and dreams during those formative years. From the very beginning, he has seen me for who I truly am, embracing both my strengths and my flaws without judgment. He appreciates every little detail about my personality, from my quirky sense of humor to my passion for God. In his gentle yet encouraging way, he continually inspires me to push beyond my perceived limits, helping me to recognize the potential I often overlook in myself. His unwavering support and belief in me motivate me to pursue my goals with confidence and determination.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Funny enough, I think about giving up all the time, but I never actually do. Growth doesn’t always show up the way you expect it to, and I’ve definitely placed timelines on myself that didn’t go as planned. When those milestones don’t happen “on time,” it’s easy to feel like you’re not getting anywhere. But over time, I’ve realized that progress doesn’t always look like a big breakthrough; sometimes it’s just showing up again, even when you feel stuck.

I’m learning to celebrate the small wins just as much as the big ones. That shift in mindset has made it harder for me to want to give up. I came across a quote that really stuck with me: “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” — Thomas Edison. That’s the energy I try to keep. Even on the tough days, I remind myself to try one more time.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is very much the real me. I have a naturally sanguine personality; I’m outgoing, positive, and people-oriented. What you see is what you get. I genuinely enjoy connecting with others, spreading good energy, and making people feel seen and heard. Of course, like anyone, I have quieter moments too, but overall, I bring the same energy to my work, my clients, and my everyday life. I don’t believe in putting on a “business face” that feels different from who I really am. Authenticity is everything to me.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I was a loving, caring, and honest person, someone who could be trusted, someone who showed up. I want to be remembered as the kind of woman who gave freely, not just in material things, but in time, support, and love. I hope my family says I helped them reach their goals, that I lifted them when they needed it, and that I always made space for others to grow. If people can say I made their lives better, even in small ways, then I’ll know I lived well.
