Hi Constance Maisha, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Greetings 🦋

I Am Constance “Maisha” I am a Mother, Artist,Vocalist but my main profession which I love so much is being a natural protective hairstylist and loctician.

I have done hair all my life but after the pandemic that love sparked again. For the past 6 years I have created my own community providing my services to dedicated and consistent clientele from Orlando,Kissimmee,Leesburg,Tampa,Jacksonville to name a few.

I specialize in protective hairstyles from braids and twists styles to loc maintenance and care. My business name is Maistyle and Hairbcare and education is and has always been number one.

It’s such a joy to be able to assist in hair journey’s that lead to in depth conversations about the health of hair as it pertains to the individual. I provide a service that is not one size fit all but tailored to the individual.

Many clients come to me with issues such as traction alopecia, damage from chemicals, internal health ailments that may contribute to the decline in the health of their hair.

I am student as well as a teacher and it’s very important to get to know the client and how they feel overall about the process I provide and what maintenence they are doing when I’m not there.

I am A holistic hairstylist who has made it my mission. And dedication to using better products whether creating and or thoroughly examining what I use to assist in a healthier experience.

I lead a very healthy lifestyle eating plant based minimized processed foods since 2007. I’m not new to this I honor this lifestyle and I’m true to this. This in turn helps me to continue to become a true vessel to those in need from their crown to their soul and over all health.

My body sp3aks to me so I had to listen In order for me to be lead In the direction Of a holistic hair stylist. Through trial and error and continuous learning I experienced product issues that caused terrible inflammation in my hands and feet. I realized it was the products I used that contained harsh chemicals.

Ever since then I was able to create healthier and better methods using minimal products and incorporating better hair care and upping my skill set to create better services.

I recently took the green pledge as a hairstylist and I plan on continuing my education. Which will better service those in need trying to grow their hair back and maintain a healthy crown.
Currently I have a set of recipes that I have and have created products which have been used on my clients. They are not currently for sale but as I continue to gather the proper formula these products should be released no later than 2026!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I have a few but I will say as I mentioned earlier is I was given many gifts and skillsets that ancestrally I gathered.

I realized once I opened up and freely expressed my love for singing and the arts it helped me to be seen because people enjoyed what I had to offer and enjoyed my gift. As I expressed that side I was filled with so much confidence.

I felt seen I felt heard which made it a sweet transition when I started doing hair at 12 years old. That confidence gave me the courage to create and problem solve, making people look and feel good became a real act of service because innately I love to help.

I then started do adults hair from the school cop and parents of my friends and getting paid before having an official job. That made me feel powerful because I was able to make people happy and make my own money doing it.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Wow suffering taught me so many lessons! I have always been a soul that has to experience most things to be taught a lesson. It’s really bad but true.
When you feel it and go and grow through it it’s like I will NEVER EVER want to experience that suffering again.

I’ve learned through pain and suffering how much I really didn’t love myself because of my choices and how in the dark I was about my abilities. Being someone who always wants to help and having so much compassion feeling deeply for other’s. I didn’t do that for myself. So the lesson was in the fact that I allowed things to happen that was quite cringe and embarrassing and I needed to heal so I can treat myself with more love, compassion and help myself as well. We teach people how to treat us and it’s okay to set boundaries.

Self sacrifice and sabotage don’t make you a good person. Making sure we set the tone and attract people who can reciprocate and or respect boundaries and really learn and love you as you do yourself leads us into a better dynamic in life.

Clarity is presented to you and your authenticity and your emotional ability to handle life’s difficulties for your present and future Life will be a helpful tool because In the end life will life! It’s how we handle and deal with how it comes at us.

This is just the basis of it because so much more goes into how life is according to the individual.

I encourage you to seek better ways to heal and outsource solutions, work on your emotional intelligence and dig deep. Create the life you desire and fight for you!! Your the lead character in your life so Lead and go hard for yourself. The generations after will be so grateful for it.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
In a new world where all cultural worlds have collided and some very exploited I would say it’s the innate ability to have a sense of understanding about the “Black” experience that for melanated people can’t be documented or copied due to you having to actually live it.
Being a Melanated black woman is the protection. The experience within it’s self is the protection. Not one person. Who doesn’t live in this experience will never truly understand what it’s like. If they did the constant debates on how we should feel wouldn’t exist.

So the actual code is to really live it, feel the lineage the ancestry all things can’t be documented and or duplicated no matter what is copied and the experience is the protection its self.

“You’ll never know until you Live it and know”
-Constance Maisha

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand that people have the right to live out their life the way they choose. You really can’t interfere because this is where lessons come in. This is how people are lead to individuals they need to meet through good deeds and or bad ones. Our experience is just that ours.

Everyone will not be on the same level. Some start up and some start down. Some catch up and some stay the same.

The saying is “Today for me and tomorrow for you.”
(Unknown)
You never know where life will lead you and what’s the true plan even if you have one.

Life is about lessons and the way things work has a funny way of letting us know we know nothing at all.

So you have to respect where people are. Be vigilant about what your about protect it,nurture it because life will continue to go on.

Everyone sees the world through different lenses according to there lineage, upbringing and experiences.

You will hurt yourself trying to make people move in ways that aren’t for them in the moment. Be an example and just do you, be you and help and influence those that want it.

If it’s meant to be people will be inspired by your moral, character and integrity.
Authenticity leads you right where you need to be.
