An Inspired Chat with Dieudonne Thomas-Wilson of The Heart of Downtown

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dieudonne Thomas-Wilson. Check out our conversation below.

Dieudonne, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Home decor and gardening. I probably would be an interior designer if I wasn’t a wedding planning.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dieudonne, a French name normally meaning “Gift of God”. I am the founder and creative director at Immaculate Events, LLC in Orlando, Florida.

Our team of Orlando wedding planners work with busy professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives and A listers who have an appreciation for custom-curated weddings and celebrations. Being in the wedding and events industry we noticed our clients struggling to find a balance between their careers and life, so they rely on our expertise to help them plan and execute their celebrations.

What makes us unique is our services are tailored specifically to the clients’ needs and personality. We are all about the customer experience. Our goal is to not add tasks to their already busy life, but to remove the stress of planning and executing their wedding or special event.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my mother shaped how I see myself. She’s always encouraged me to be the best at anything I do, to work hard and always finish what I start. She taught me to be confident, an independent thinker and to create my own path.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me gratitude and that I don’t need external validation. Success will tell you what the world values in you. When the world goes quiet, suffering will tell you what you value most. It reminds us how little control we really have as masters over our lives.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My family, respect, integrity and how I treat others.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I helped others, made a difference in the world by contributing to making it and others better through business and charity.
