Jaclyn E. shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Jaclyn , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Sometimes, during a show or while I’m playing piano or singing, I experience these rare moments where I completely lose myself…almost as if I’ve crossed into another realm. It might be the lyrics that capture my soul or a melody I’m playing that feels so alive it takes on its own heartbeat. My eyes close, and for a few moments, I’m somewhere else entirely. When I open them again, it’s as though I’ve been gently brought back to the present. Music is the one place in life where I can truly let go and lose myself completely.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the owner of Jaclyn E Music LLC, a brand built around my love for performing and creating music. My piano shell rental business has really taken off, helping artists and venues elevate their events with a sleek, professional setup. I travel often for gigs…performing on cruise ships, at resorts, and for private dueling piano events…and I also write and record my own original music. Everything I do comes back to my passion for connecting with people and creating meaningful moments through music.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
. As a kid, I really struggled with feeling like I wasn’t good enough. One moment that’s always stayed with me happened at the private school I attended growing up. I had been cast in a play and was so excited…I practiced constantly and couldn’t wait to perform. Then, suddenly, the role was given to one of my best friends. At the time, I thought it meant I wasn’t talented enough, and that belief stuck with me for years. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized it had nothing to do with me….it was simply favoritism. Their families were heavily involved in funding the school, and as a child, I wasn’t aware of that.
Looking back now, I wish someone had told me it wasn’t about my worth or ability. But in a way, that experience taught me resilience. It pushed me to find confidence in my own voice and to create opportunities rather than wait for permission. Music became that outlet for me…it’s where I learned to express myself freely and finally believe that I am enough, just as I am.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me to truly value the life I’ve built. It connects back to my earlier story, because I’ve learned that when things are handed to you, you rarely appreciate them the same way. Every meaningful thing in my life has been earned…my cars, my career, my travels, my independence. None of it was easy, and that’s exactly what makes it special. The challenges, heartbreaks, and setbacks have shaped me just as much as the achievements have. If I hadn’t gone through hard times, I don’t think I’d recognize the beauty in the good ones. The struggle gave me perspective…it taught me gratitude, resilience, and how to build a life that’s mine in every sense of the word.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I believe too many people try to save the world before tending to their home, their family, their tribe.
It’s wonderful to care about global issues and the environment, but none of it truly matters if you haven’t first brought peace and balance to the people closest to you. As Michael J. Fox said, “Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.” That quote has always resonated with me because it’s simple but true. You can’t claim to love someone…your best friend, your mother, your brother, or the love of your life…and not prioritize them.
If you consistently put strangers or distant causes before the people you claim to love, you’re not truly showing up for them, or for what matters most.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who always tried to make others feel special. Whether it was throwing a birthday party, planning a surprise, or bringing someone a small gift just because it reminded me of them…I’ve always loved doing things that make people feel seen and appreciated.
More than anything I’ve achieved, I hope I’m remembered for the way I made people feel.
