An Inspired Chat with Jazzmyne Taylor of Kissimmee

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jazzmyne Taylor. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Jazzmyne, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Who are you learning from right now?
The person i’m learning the most from currently is myself. I have certain traits that have proven to be problematic in my course of life that I would love to unlearn. I am also learning that I am the only person who can truly be held accountable for how my life turns out, so you can say I am learning from myself- what it would be like to live for myself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jazzmyne Taylor. I am a mother, graduate student, print model, and an aba advocate.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Oh wow. Thinking back on who I was before the world attempted to tell me who I had to be really brings a smile to my heart. I was strong willed, resilient, independent, sassy, witty, and observant. I certainly did not favor authority, and I assumed I knew what was best for me at all times. I was an extremely strong minded little girl, and I’m pretty sure my parents knew they would have their hands full with teaching me that some control is needed for success.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to have trust in how strong I actually am. I use to believe that I had seasons of “bad luck”. When I look back at those moments now I see that they were building blocks required to teach me what to do and how to handle things if help was not available to me. Suffering has shown me that I am capable of getting myself out of any situation, no matter how uncertain or intense the end result may appear. My faith in God has helped me understand that suffering is not meant as punishment, but as moments to increase strength and personal faith in him. While success feels good, it rarely teaches you to be resilient. Especially if you always succeed on the first try.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would think my closest friends would say the thing that really matters to me would be my purpose to help children and others in need. I have dedicated the last 5 years of my life to the field of applied behavior analysis and helping individuals who want to create opportunities for increased independence in their lives. I have been a huge advocate for self independence and having as many opportunities as possible to make independent choices in your life. We do not get many opportunities to personally pick and choose our fate, and a big part of my life is ensuring individuals who may have already been limited- live as independently as possible. My love to see others be as free as possible would be the thing that matters most to me.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I think the biggest thing I understand that most people don’t, is that people truly have free will. There is nothing you can do or say that will actually influence anyone to do or behave in anyway that they disagree with. The best thing you can do is allow people to live their lives in the best way they feel they can, and support them regardless if you agree with the choices or not. I believe support and honesty unconditional love comes from how you view that person, and not whether or not they take your advice on their life choices. I understand that people have different views of themselves compared to how society sees them, and we all have hidden battles we prefer not to speak on in public. I understand others needs and desires to be independent, free, and the pilot of their own lives.
