An Inspired Chat with KAYLA CASTRO of ORLANDO

KAYLA CASTRO shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi KAYLA, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
In my business, the thing I’m most proud of that nobody really sees is the confidence I help build in my client families to travel, especially those who once thought it wasn’t possible. It’s not just about booking trips; it’s about watching them go from feeling unsure or overwhelmed to creating memories they never imagined they could have.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kayla Castro, a former Disney cast member turned travel advisor specializing in creating stress-free, magical vacations for families, especially those with special needs. As a special needs mom myself, I understand the unique challenges that can make travel feel overwhelming. My passion is helping families who thought travel wasn’t possible gain the confidence to explore, connect, and make memories together. From Disney parks and cruises to all-inclusive resorts, I handle every detail so my clients can focus on the joy of the journey. Right now, I’m working on new tools and guides to make travel even more accessible and enjoyable for families of all abilities.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was younger, I never imagined I’d become a travel advisor, and I certainly didn’t believe that ‘little old me’ could make a real difference in the world. Now, I’ve learned that every profession has the power to make an impact when you put people before profit. In my work, I see firsthand how helping families…especially those who thought travel wasn’t possible, opens doors to experiences, connections, and moments they never dreamed they could have.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! Being a travel advisor is not easy, and there have definitely been moments when I felt like giving up. One of the most discouraging parts is when someone comes to me for a quote or detailed trip planning, I pour hours into creating something tailored just for them, and then they disappear without a word. After it happens enough times, it’s frustrating because that’s time I could have spent serving my committed clients or being present with my family. Those moments can be overwhelming. But I remind myself why I started, helping families create memories they never thought possible, and that’s what keeps me going.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m deeply committed to making travel accessible for all, no matter how long it takes. I want to see more businesses become Certified Autism Centers, more resources available for travelers with special needs, and more staff trained to understand and support these families. Every step we take in that direction opens the door for more people to experience the joy and connection that travel can bring, and I will keep fighting for that vision.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply, more than most travel advisors, is the unique challenges and needs of families traveling with special needs. This comes not only from my experience as a travel advisor specializing in this area, but also from being a special needs parent and a former special education educator. Most travel advisors don’t have that firsthand perspective or professional background, so they might miss important details that can make or break a family’s travel experience. I know what it really takes to create trips that are not just fun, but truly accessible, comfortable, and memorable for everyone involved.
