We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tata oro Tatiana Orozco . Check out our conversation below.
Tatiana , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first thing I do in the morning is hug my husband, say a prayer, and enjoy the coffee he makes for me every day. Then I put on some music to get ready and head to work with a positive attitude
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Tatiana Orozco, and I’m a curly hair specialist, educator, and founder of the brand Tata Oro. I help women embrace their natural curls through personalized services, online education, and a haircare line that’s designed specifically for textured and curly hair. After years of struggling with my own identity and hair, I found purpose in helping others see their natural beauty and feel confident. My brand is not just about products, it’s a movement of self-love, healing, and transformation. Right now, I’m working on expanding my brand in the U.S.
As a new immigrant in the United States, I’m starting from scratch but with faith that my name and my brand will become known.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a joyful, creative soul who loved to express herself freely. But over time, I was taught to silence parts of me to straighten my hair, to pursue paths that didn’t fully reflect who I was, just to feel accepted. I became a full-time proud mom, and even though I had completed two professional degrees, something inside me knew there was more. I realized I was walking through the exact season God wanted for me, a time to return to myself, to rediscover my identity, and to heal. That journey led me to embrace my natural beauty, my curls, my roots, and my faith. Today, I help others do the same through my brand Tata Oro, a space where beauty, purpose, and self-love come together.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a time I almost gave up. Moving to this country was incredibly hard, and I seriously thought about letting go of my dream and everything I had built with my brand. But through faith, God has been guiding me step by step. Sometimes I look at how far I still have to go, and it feels overwhelming but then I remind myself that I have everything it takes to keep going. I carry the potential, the purpose, and the passion. And that’s more than enough to keep walking this path.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is a part of who I am, but not the whole story. I choose to show the best version, my passion, my faith, my love for curly hair and self-acceptance. But behind the scenes, I’m still growing, learning, and healing every day. I believe being real means sharing both your strengths and your struggles, so I try to be honest and vulnerable while inspiring others to embrace their true selves too.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me when I’m gone is one of courage, faith, and love through Jesus. That I was someone who inspired others to embrace their true selves, especially their natural beauty, and who helped others find confidence and healing through her work. That I didn’t just build a brand or a business, but a community where people felt seen, valued, and empowered. Most importantly, that I lived with purpose, trusting in Jesus every step of the way, and left a legacy of hope, faith, and self-love.
