Angela Cosat’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Angela Cosat. Check out our conversation below.

Angela, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My fitness journey in the last year or so has brought me a lot of joy. I love waking up and going to the gym and finishing my gym routine walking on the tread while reading a book. Fitness and health have become a huge part of my life in the last couple years!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Angela Cosat (formerly Krauss-Coryell) and I am the owner if Angela June Photography. I live in New Smyrna Beach photographing weddings, couples and portraits in FL and anywhere my camera takes me. I feel like my brand has really been built not only on strong storytelling through photos but also on serving my clients well. Yes, my clients have hired me to photograph their wedding or graduation or special event but I think it’s so much more important to build a lasting relationship that shows you care about their wedding day or special moment just as much as they do!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents are the hardest working people I know. They are now retired but growing up I remember them always working diligently not only at their jobs but in life too. They were both always there for my brother and I, neighbors, friends, family and co-workers. I know I get that will to grind from them.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The only word that comes to mind when I think about suffering is endurance. I actually have the word “endure” tattooed on my left wrist. For me, when difficult circumstances arise I have learned to lean in and learn more about myself which has only molded me into a stronger and more empathetic human and friend. Instant success could never teach me what I’ve built through enduring adversity.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Wedding photography has absolutely exploded in the last decade or so thanks to social media. But in some ways I also feel like social media has ruined the true value of a wedding day. Social media has taught us that your wedding day must be trendy and for the photos and that could not be farther from the truth. I always tell my clients, “do what you want to do.” If you want to have a big weddings, do it. If you want to elope, do it. If you like a certain color or style or theme for your wedding, do it! Trends are trends for a reason, your wedding day is about you, your fiancé and what matters most to you both. Be present that day for you.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I truly believe that I have found my passion and calling in life. I was lucky to have found my love for photography in middle school. Now, I had no clue I would someday have my own photography business but sticking to the path I did lead me to where I am now. I could have been a teacher or a number of other careers but just know my heart wouldn’t have been in it.
