We’re looking forward to introducing you to Angela Laviena. Check out our conversation below.
Angela, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Today, I feel called to share my story and my voice without fear. In the past, I worried about what others might think or if I was truly ready to lead on a larger scale. Now, I understand that every challenge, setback, and victory in my life and business has been part of my preparation. I’m learning to trust my purpose more than my fears and to believe that what I carry inside can inspire and pave the way for others.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Angela Laviena, a chef, mom, and entrepreneur with over 25 years in the culinary world. My journey started in Puerto Rico, working in hotels, restaurants, catering, and with organizations that taught me the beauty of serving people through food. Years later after my husband passed, I took a leap of faith and launched All Modern Cuisine from my home kitchen here in Florida. What began as a dream has grown into a brand known for blending cultures, creating flavors that tell a story, and making people feel at home—no matter where they’re from. Today, I’m focused on building experiences that go beyond the plate, inspiring others to pursue their calling, and leaving a legacy of love, creativity, and excellence in every dish I create.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that believed I had to do everything alone has served its purpose and needs to be released. For so long, I wore independence like armor, convincing myself that asking for help was a sign of weakness. That mindset came from years of having to survive, of figuring things out on my own when there was no safety net. It taught me resilience and problem-solving, and for that, I’m grateful.
But that same self-reliance also kept me isolated and exhausted. I now understand that strength is not only measured by how much you can carry, but by the courage it takes to share the load. True growth happens when we allow others to stand beside us, to bring their gifts, and to build something greater together.
I’m letting go of the idea that I have to be everything for everyone, and embracing collaboration, trust, and community. Because the truth is—we go farther, and with more joy, when we go together.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her, ‘You are more capable than you think, and you don’t have to have it all figured out right now.’ I’d remind her that every struggle, every ‘no,’ and every detour is shaping her into the woman she’s meant to be. I’d tell her to trust the process, to hold onto her faith, and to never stop dreaming—even when it feels impossible—because one day she’ll look back and realize she was building something beautiful all along.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, but it’s not the whole story. The public version of me is real—I genuinely love people, food, and creating experiences that bring joy. But like anyone, there are parts of my journey that happen off-camera: the quiet moments of doubt, the long nights working through challenges, and the prayers no one hears. I’ve learned that being authentic doesn’t mean sharing every detail, but it does mean showing up with honesty, heart, and integrity. What you see is me—but it’s the me that’s ready to serve, inspire, and lead.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I loved well, that I made them feel seen, and that I used my gifts to serve others. I want them to remember that my life wasn’t just about food—it was about connection, creativity, and making moments matter. I hope they tell the story of a woman who faced challenges with faith, who dreamed big even when it was hard, and who built something that brought people together. Most of all, I hope they say that through my purpose, I helped others connect with God and discover their own. If my story inspires someone to believe in themselves, trust Him, and keep going, then I’ll know I lived my life well.
