Today we’d like to introduce you to Alvin Cerrud.
Hi Alvin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I can truly say that barbering/cosmetology is my passion. At a very young age, I realized that helping people achieve a new look was something I enjoyed and to this day, I still feel the same way. I have tried other professions and possess a master’s degree in counseling but nothing has fulfilled me as much as barbering/cosmetology. Although it is difficult to build a clientele and create decent margins, the perks of being self-employed makes it worth the hard work. I have had an amazing journey as a barber/stylist and have met many great individuals because of my profession. In addition to changing people’s look the great conversations that I have with my clients on the daily basis is what really makes me happy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being self-employed carries many obstacles. The uncertainty gets to me at times and one could easily panic when found in a situation where business slows down. A great example was last year with the pandemic starting and businesses struggling. Therefore, working extra hard is something that is no longer optional to see growth. I have met many great individuals but as it happens with all industries, it can be difficult to please everyone. I will say that I am blessed to work with individuals who truly value and appreciate my skills, I have rented workspace at different shops in the Orlando area and have yet to find one comfortable enough for me and my clients to make it my “forever home.”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My beauty teacher once told me that in order to be an accomplished stylist, you must know how to achieve different looks while applying different techniques. Although I have extensive knowledge on everything related to barbering/cosmetology and enjoy doing different things, I pride myself on classic gentleman haircuts. That being said, many individuals know me for my skills in performing precise classic haircuts while also providing information on movement, direction, care, and styling. Most of my clients have expressed to me that they look forward to their appointments because they never have a dull conversation while in the chair.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Being self employed means you have find different ways to keep your business growing. That being said, I appreciate any support and promise to do my best to exceed all expectations.

I have known Alvin since he was 13 years old. He is a good person. Honest and sincere, intelligent, responsible, and a man of his word. He has a fantastic personality, with a great sense of humor. If I weren’t an old bald guy, I would trust him with my hair. No questions asked. A very good man! Highly recommend you give him your business.
