Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Caballero.
Hi Brianna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story behind my lens doesn’t begin in some high school art classroom or some flowery inspirational moment where I had an epiphany that I’d be a photographer one day. In fact, while I always had an eye for creativity, I never imagined myself owning a professional camera, let alone a photography business. The first time I picked up my camera was during a time in my life where it felt like my whole world was crashing and burning down around me. I was in the midst of an abusive marriage, raising three under three, and facing the reality of becoming a single mom with not a penny to my name. All of this while at the young age of twenty-four. When I picked up that camera and saw what I could be capable of creating in the midst of such darkness in my life, a fierceness awakened in me and through my lens, I began finding my way back to myself. Friends and family believed in my talent, rallied around me and helped me bring to life what would become Brianna Elise Photography.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely was not a smooth road. I was completely new to the wedding industry and photography. My struggles included having to learn photography as a self-taught artist, beginning my business in the midst of an abusive marriage, going through a divorce from said marriage, becoming a single mom, moving, and healing from all that trauma. It was a lot.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer. I specialize in fine art, natural light photography, where I focus on maximizing natural light to create uniquely artistic photographs. I am most known for my wedding and family photography. My work is known for it’s natural, airy and dreamy look. I basically take “boutiquey” photos of people utilizing lots of natural light and my go-to 50 mm lens. I am most proud of my work. I did not go to school for photography and I utilized everything within my capacity to hone my skills.
