Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Dupont.
Hi Britney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My senior year of high school I started working for a small bakery. I learned the basics of customer service and then slowly switched into back of the house roles. While in college for design, I continued to work in the food industry and worked for a bakery at Disney. It was after that that more people started approaching me to bake sweets and desserts for them.
At first, it was for friends and family, but suddenly I was doing stuff for people I didn’t know and their friends and family. I graduated, had a baby and found a job. Pushed baking a bit to the side… and then I lost my job during Covid. Suddenly I had all the time and no income and I found myself getting requests again. The last six months have been a blessing to revamp and rebrand my business. In doing so, I’ve been able to complete more and more orders with success!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think I had a lot of struggles in the beginning. I think this was mostly because I started out doing this for fun while I was younger and in college and it just started with to pick up more and more. The biggest challenge I had was building back up clientele during Covid. Mostly because three years ago, I had pushed baking to the side to focus on my baby and office job. But since then, it’s been pretty busy and growing everyday.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an interior designer. Specialized in high-end residential design and hospitality design.
What are your plans for the future?
Immediate focus for the next year is to continue to establish as the customer base and following. Goal for the next two years is to open a storefront that plays a large role in the community.
