Check Out Brittany Baker’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Baker.

Hi Brittany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started with years of wedding work in Miami where I grew up. Then when visiting my in-laws I fell in love with Mount Dora and decided to put down roots. I opened Le Petit Sweet in 2014. My background in design and degree from PRAT matched with a passion for great food means I try to make sure every cake is as beautiful as it is delicious. Maintaining only a small staff we at LPS make sure that our clients come first and always feel special!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not always been easy. When we first opened Le Petit Sweet I would work 16 hour days since my only staff was my husband. We’ve come a long way since I now have four employees and get to focus on the fun projects!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
One of the things that set us apart is how we specialize in buttercream designs. Our industry is pretty dominated with fondant but we pride ourselves on being able to get our cakes just as smooth while keeping the great taste. We use Italian Meringue Buttercream so it’s super tasty, has a smooth texture, and isn’t as sweet as traditional American Buttercream. Also my background as a painter has definitely benefited us creatively since I’m able to work with buttercream just like some paints or work with food colors like watercolors.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
My favorite thing about Orlando and Mount Dora is the small town community feel. The community is so supportive of each other, whether it’s a new endeavor or getting through something rough like COVID. I think if there was one thing I could change, I would add more food diversity! Coming from Miami there is authentic food from all parts of the world and Orlando and Mount Dora don’t have that variety.
