Check Out Cherryann Williams’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherryann Williams.

Hi Cherryann, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The bright city lights at night, the subway, the suburbs, beautiful homes and apartments, luxury cars, easy living, everyone was well-off, no one was poor or struggling……….this was my perception of America until I came here to live. I moved to the US from Barbados about 23 years ago with $500 in my pocket and one piece of luggage, ready to work hard and live “THE” American Dream. Life wasn’t as easy as what I had seen on TV but I was determined to make a successful life here regardless of the odds that were stacked against me. When I was younger, my dream job was to be in fashion or nursing but I took the more secure and reliable route, in my mind, and became a nurse. I have been working as a Registered Nurse for the past 14 years and when social media came about, it gave me the greatest opportunity to delve back into one of my greatest passions, besides nursing, which is fashion. I become active on Instagram about five years ago, creating fashion style boards and when I realized that people were actually loving and commenting on my pictures, I wanted to do more. Fast forward to today, I am still working as an RN but I am also a Content Creator whose platform focuses on Fashion, Lifestyle, Health and Wellness, and Travel.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a Content Creator/Influencer is not an easy job by any means, especially working a full-time job as well. There are so many deadlines to meet, possible reshoots, negotiations, outfit planning, location scouting, and your own out of pocket costs. Each Influencer have his or her own challenges but some of the most common ones you will run into including myself, is making sure that your engagement is up and that is beyond ‘likes”. When you work with a brand, “likes” DO NOT equal a purchase. Instagram updates regularly and sometimes it is not in the Content Creator’s favor. I have to make sure that I am genuinely interacting with my audience, creating awesome content, and just being “ME”. I had to pivot and started posting pictures beyond the cute clothes and makeup. People love to see the real YOU, they love to see someone that they can relate to. Some days I am not motivated at all to post but I have to remember why I started this journey in the first place. I want to make people smile and be happy about themselves when they see themselves in the mirror. I want to motivate and encourage them to keep going and never give up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Registered Nurse by profession and I cannot see myself doing anything else, besides fashion, of course. I also work as a Content Creator/Influencer/Blogger part-time. What I am known for is motivating, inspiring, and encouraging my audience as well as creating high and low end looks that fit everyone’s budget, and educating on health and wellness. When people visit my Instagram Page, I want them to leave with something that they can use, whether it’s an outfit inspiration or some encouraging words that can get them through a tough day. I am most proud of where my brand is going right now, especially being able to work with reputable brands, as well as the amazing relationships that I have built from just being on different social media platforms. I think what sets me apart from others is being unapologetically and authentically “ME”, not saying that others are not being themselves, but everyone is different and unique and have something to bring to the table. I put my all into what I do and never settle for mediocre. I believe in giving your best, no matter how big or small the task.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would love your readers to know that whatever their hopes and dreams are, it’s never too late to live or achieve them. Struggles and disappointments are going to come, you may fail many times but it’s what you do after that matters. I would also tell them that if they are thinking about becoming a Content Creator/Influencer/Blogger that there is no right time, just do it. It doesn’t matter if you have a camera, phone or a photographer, new or thrift outfit, 50k followers or 500, just get started. It may be discouraging at first but don’t stop, keep going!!
