Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Perpillant.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Design Theory in 2008. I felt there was a need for my talents and skills in web design and business development within my community and I wanted to go about it in a professional way. Since we work with small businesses, we are able to understand the needs and goals most organizations are striving to achieve. Throughout the years, I have done many public speaking events to share and discuss marketing and digital strategy methods to different sized crowds in person and virtually.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At first, I would say it was smooth, but when you try and wear too many hats at once, things will get a bit complicated. Growing pains are part of the process and I’ve certainly learned a lot and grown personally throughout the years we’ve been in business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
While I spend more of my time these days consulting clients on their business goals, I’m still creative at heart. Professionally I do photography for businesses and events, some of which I’ll publish some pieces on my social mediums. Lately, I’ve been getting more into video and editing because there’s been such a shift towards small businesses creating video content and disseminating that over many platforms for optimal reach.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think there will continue to be more businesses creating websites that are “working” websites. Meaning, not just informational websites, but websites that can sell variations of products, offer automated services and interactive elements to engage with a customer no matter time, region, or language.
