Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Jones.
Hi Jeremiah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I discovered my writing talent in 4th grade as I scored a five out of six on the Written Florida Comprehension Assessment Test earning one of the highest scores in Orange county back then. I grew up in an Urban area called Eatonville located here in Florida and it is the oldest self-governing all black municipality in the United States. Living in this town I developed my hunger for success and wanted to achieve new accolades for myself after graduating high school and going to college so I focused on my studies and began to earn my own money by working and investing in myself. In 2015, I began writing my first book title Gleden Oaks: The Streets Show No Love and the book reflected on real life experiences and some of the struggles faced when trying to make it out of urban areas. Readers gravitated to the book after I published it on June 25, 2018. It hit amazon and became available via paperback and on kindle devices as the book began to sell all through Orlando and throughout the State. In September of 2018, I was contacted and told that Wesh two news wanted to conduct a live interview with me, it was one of the happiest days of my life and the opportunity gave me more exposure with my novels and illustrated my impact on the communities in Central Florida and surrounding areas.
A little more than a year later I released Gleden Oaks 2; The Story of Marlo and The Italian Mafia which also got a great reaction from readers and social media. It led me to connect with great people and other successors in the town of Eatonville. Photo shoots, newsletters, speaking events, social media marketing, interviews, and steady progress led me to create my first LLC titled “Jones Creative Writing” where I offer a number of services but the main focus is to help others obtain advice with writing and take it in any direction they choose. Whether it’s for school purposes, becoming an author, writing skills needed for a business, or just to get better with speech and grammar. I am currently working on Gleden Oaks 3: The Final Chapter and plan to release it to readers this summer. It feels really too good to have accomplished my dreams and most of all I thank God for being able to create phenomenal entertainment through my writing techniques and skills.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it has not been a smooth road I’ve been through a lot of difficult times and had to push through hurdles. There’s been times when I have lacked financially, didn’t have particular resources, or the right people behind me to get to the next level. When you have ambition and self-drive having these things and people even if it’s just partially means a lot when it comes to getting to the next level. I can reflect on times when I wanted to give up and felt like I wouldn’t reach my goals and new accomplishments but with faith and determination I continued to move forward and progress through my toughest trials and tribulations. The right people eventually came along, I gained better finances in the process of it all and expanded my available resources and got introduced to new ones by the people and organizations that were willing to help me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full time electrical apprentice looking to obtain my electrical Journeyman’s license. I love to over achieve, study, and practice new things. I want to power the future as I call it by getting better at than mastering my electrical work. I work hand in hand with electricians, superintendents, general contractors, and project managers everyday as we go over safety protocols, electrical blue prints, and gather materials in new construction projects to get the electrical part of the job complete.
How do you think about happiness?
Playing recreational basketball because it’s a great stress reliever for me when I have a lot on my mind, spending time with my friends and family because it adds to my book of life, writing and developing characters because it’s my passion, and working because it earns me a steady income that I’m able to benefit from.
