Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin and Rebeca Lugo.
Hi Justin and Rebeca, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had always had an interest in film and had a habit of dissecting movies scene by scene rather than just enjoying them like a normal viewer would. I knew that creating and telling stories through video was what I wanted to do. I met Rebeca, my partner and wife, at a store we both worked in in the wedding industry. I needed help one day as my second shooter bailed at the last minute and Rebeca came to assist me. Since then, we’ve launched a wedding videography business, got married, and we’ve been growing ever since. Even in a pandemic year like 2020, our growth was amazing, we shot and edited more weddings last year than we have the last three years combined.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The main challenge was working a full-time normal job while also having two children and trying to balance all of this with growing a business. There are times I’ve spent editing till 2 or 3 am, having already worked a full day and spent time with the kids as well. The filming of actual weddings is the easy part.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in wedding films. We shoot and edit our weddings in a cinematic style. We treat each wedding like a film with pre and post-production. We strive for a moody and fun edit that makes people watch again and again. We also offer other videography for products, social media content, and more.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
First off, we’ve learned love doesn’t stop for a virus. We actually grew during the pandemic even with all of the restrictions, people weren’t going to give up no matter what. It was actually very inspiring to see people’s resilience during such a tough time, and of course, we are grateful for these clients because they kept our business going.
