Check Out Myranda Elkin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myranda Elkin.

Hi Myranda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For as long as I can remember, I have always created art in some way. I still have the sketchbooks from when I was a young girl, as I grew so did my passion for art, I do traditional art, graphic art, photography, and 3-D art. I started taking digital imaging classes at Niceville High School in Niceville, FL and received my first camera as a Christmas gift. I grew to love photography, constantly experimenting with different angles and subjects but I did not start taking portraits on a consistent level until I moved to Orlando and started going to UCF for a BFA degree in Graphic Design. I joined the photography club there and it opened up so many opportunities to build my portfolio. Many of my first photos were from meetups with models and other creatives, which is a fantastic experience because you get to meet so many other people who love what you love. I now book clients for all types of photography and freelance work in graphic design, which I love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road has not been smooth, one large struggle has been Covid. I was in the Spring of 2020 graduating class so finding opportunities that require people to meet face-to-face safely is difficult. Finding clients can be a struggle on its own so when you add Covid to the mix, it makes it a lot worse. I have been fortunate enough to still book clients and do some creative portraits as well, even with everything going on.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer and graphic designer. I would say I am known for portrait photography. I do specialize in portraits but I love all types of photography as well as art. I am most proud of when a client receives their photos and are excited about how they turned out. I love receiving the text saying how much they love their photos because they chose me to capture this moment in their life of themselves or with people they love.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the fact that you can go from city to small-town feel in Orlando, depending on how you feel. I have lived outside of downtown and when we choose to go downtown, it is like going to another area completely. I have always lived in smaller towns before moving here and it is just awe-inspiring to see how large the skyscrapers are and the different architecture all around the city. I dislike the traffic in our city but that is what you get when a lot of people live in and visit one place.
