Check Out Adriana Francis and Katya Garcia’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Francis and Katya Garcia.

Hi Adriana and Katya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Adriana Francis and Katya Garcia met at Lake Mary Church about 3 years ago and are now best friends. At the beginning of 2025, they both felt led to leave their office jobs and prioritize their family and start their business. Adriana and Katya both planned their own weddings fully and through the process, fell in love with putting together details, organizing, and making their visions come to life. This passion emerged into an Event Planning business, Sixteen24 Events, as it is called today. Sixteen 24 is based off the scripture, Proverbs 16:24, because the two believe that event planning with gracious words can be sweet and healing. The two started spreading word of the business at their church and in their community and gained the support of their friends and family. They have planned and hosted birthday parties, graduation parties, baby showers and are assisting to plan an upcoming wedding in July. Their goal is to serve others, make visions come to life and making special events smooth and memorable.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. When we started the business, Adriana had just found out she was pregnant and Katya was planning her own wedding at the time. Also, although we have a few clients from our community and church, it’s difficult to open the range of clients because we’re small and just starting out. However, every event we do get we put our all into!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in planning and coordinating weddings. We help brides plan from finding a venue, to making sure everything goes right on their special day. What we are most proud of is the relationship that we build with our clients throughout the process. Getting to know them deeper and seeing the smile on their faces when their ideas are brought to life is a feeling like no other. What sets us apart from others is that with our planning services, you also have access to other services you might need, like photography, videography, rentals, and catering. We want to make the planning process as seamless as possible and will give you as many resources as we can to make that possible.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Katya: Growing up, I was a pretty shy girl. But I always felt a connection to music and to painting and arts and crafts. I felt like it was a good way to express myself when my own words couldn’t. I grew up in church and my family was the type to be there 4 times a week. This is where I really found my community and I felt like myself. I served in children’s ministry and would love to go to the weekly youth group. It was my home when my home didn’t feel like it. Today, the church, music, and art is still essentials parts of my life and has shaped who I am today.

Adriana: Growing up, I was always curious and had a strong pull toward music which gave me a way to express myself and connect with the world. Music was like a second language to me. Teaching also came naturally as I enjoyed explaining things, helping others understand, and feeling useful in that role. Church was and is a vital part of my life, shaping my values and giving me a sense of community and purpose. Together, music, teaching, and being part of the church helped form who I was and still aid the person I am becoming.
