Check Out Alex Pierre’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Pierre.

Hi Alex, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My story began when I started writing stories as a child. I lived in Kissimmee, FL, but had moved to Pennsylvania just as my creativity began to expand and become more abstract. In Pennsylvania, I learned about all the different art forms and how they can influence the best sides of peoples’ minds. One place that not only spoke to me but laid out a path for my artistic destiny was the Philadelphia Art Musem. My mother used to take me there and to The Franklin Institute often. Using my passion for art and science, I began drawing and painting. In high school, certain things impacted my life, so I moved back to Kissimmee to live with my grandparents. From there, a new life breathed into me-leading me to join the Navy right after high school. I wasn’t in the Navy for long, but that’s where I connected with painting again. From there, I focused on finding my style. But it wasn’t until 2020 that I started to take myself a bit more seriously and my art. I’ve grown as an artist since then-selling art, being in festivals-but I will never forget the love and comfort I felt when I first held a paintbrush. Or when I looked at a piece of fine art for the first time, how my heart felt nothing but warmth. Those feelings of nostalgia and optimism for the present drive me into the future of my creativity. Though I am a Florida native, I did move back to Philadelphia to keep pursuing my passion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. There were many times when I wanted to quit, not just in painting but in life. I didn’t want to try to improve or be a better person. For one, after being medically separate from the Navy, I thought my life was over. To keep a long story short (and more appropriate), I was in the mentality that I wasn’t worth it.

I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder after a manic episode that caused me to leave a good job. Of course, that worried me because I was already aware of the stigma that comes with BPD. So, I went into hermit mode because I didn’t want people to know that side of me.

Besides my mental health, it was difficult trying to keep up a social life/ artistic life/ school life/ and work-life balance, all the while having to grow into the adult I’m supposed to be.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an abstract/ intuitive painter known for using insanely energetic colors. The vibrancy and contrast draw people in and ignite them with a “party vibe” that I’m proud of being able to convey. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t just have one set style. I mainly from my emotions, or whatever my mental state may be within that moment.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a quiet kid but showed the fun side with people I was comfortable with. I was into reading, music, and writing for the most part.
