Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Bowhay.

Alexis Bowhay

Hi Alexis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began as a Physician Assistant in cardiology, where I honed my medical skills and developed a deep commitment to patient care. However, my passion for fitness, beauty, and health led me to explore entrepreneurship, opening a couple of gyms in Orlando. Despite the success of my gyms, I felt a strong calling to return to medicine, and I discovered that the aesthetics industry perfectly aligned with my love for global mind and health improvement.

Recognizing how saturated the field was, I knew I had to differentiate myself, so I offered to work for free at a medspa to prove my dedication and build trust. This opportunity allowed me to immerse myself in the world of aesthetics, where I quickly developed a passion for creating natural results that enhance my patients’ confidence and well-being.

Today, I specialize in anti-aging procedures at the Village Institute of Plastic Surgery in Orlando. My work extends beyond patient care; I’m also a national trainer and speaker and a contributor to various medical publications. I believe that through aesthetics, I’m helping more people than I ever did in cardiology, empowering them to feel confident and live life to the fullest.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am today has definitely had its challenges. The aesthetics industry is incredibly saturated, making it difficult to break in, especially when you’re transitioning from another field like I did. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that sometimes you have to be willing to take a few steps back to take a giant leap forward.

When I decided to enter the aesthetics industry, I knew I couldn’t just jump in at the top. I had to start at the bottom, which meant humbling myself and working as an assistant in a medspa. This allowed me to train, learn, and absorb everything I could about aesthetics while building trust with the team around me. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. Those early experiences were crucial in shaping my career, and they gave me the foundation and confidence I needed to eventually launch and succeed in this field.

So, while it hasn’t been a smooth road, each struggle taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of earning trust and respect in a new industry. These lessons have been invaluable in getting me to where I am today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is deeply rooted in the principles of ethics and integrity. As a Physician Assistant specializing in anti-aging and aesthetic procedures, I pride myself on being an ethical provider who always puts the patient’s best interests first. I focus on recommending treatments that genuinely serve and enhance my patients’ natural beauty, rather than pushing them towards unnecessary procedures just to make a sale.

What sets me apart is my conservative approach, especially lip filler, ensuring that my patients leave with natural-looking results that boost their confidence without compromising their unique features. I’m known for my ability to create subtle, refined enhancements that align with each patient’s individual aesthetic goals. Importantly, I’m not afraid to say no to a patient if I believe that a certain procedure isn’t in their best interest. Their well-being always comes first.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust my patients place in me. They know that I’m committed to their well-being and that my recommendations are based on what’s best for them, not on selling another syringe. This approach has not only helped me build a loyal patient base but also earned me a reputation for delivering consistent, beautiful, and natural results.

Beyond my work with patients, I’m also passionate about educating and mentoring other injectors, contributing to the industry through training and publications, and constantly striving to elevate the standards of care in aesthetic medicine.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
If multi-tasking were an Olympic sport, I’d take the gold! I have always been the go-getter type. I am incredibly organized, your classic type A personality. I’m obsessed with my daily lists and live by them! Each day is organized by the hour and without that level of organization, I wouldn’t be able to juggle it all.
