Check Out Ali Truluck’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Truluck.

Hi Ali, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been extremely passionate about the beauty industry for as long as I can remember! I recall sneaking into my moms makeup bag, seeing that pink and green tube of mascara and using it before school & thinking it was the neatest thing. My passion for hair and makeup was always there. So much so, that most of my birthdays revolved around makeup & make overs in my bathroom. Throughout my life I toyed with the idea of becoming a cosmologists… I was encouraged by many to go in that direction and I felt like it was something God had put into my heart. It didn’t come to me in a silver platter it has been something I’ve worked towards almost what feels like my whole life. I have always had a passion to make others feel their best most beautiful self even if it meant slightly enhancing their features to see their true beauty that was already there. I wholeheartedly believe the lessons I have learned throughout my life, the mentors that I have crossed paths with trusting God and having faith sometimes as small as a mustard seed brought me to where I am today. With Christ at the forefront of everything I do, I am now running my own business, creating a legacy to shine as bright as I can for him while glamming up my clients in the process. My faith is what got me to this point and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for my future.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were definitely many challenges and obstacles standing in my way, partially my self and other things that life decided to throw my way. However I knew that GOD had a plan and a purpose for my life. I continued to pray all the time asking for a sign. (If it was a snake it would have bit me). Everyone and I mean literally everyone said I should invest my self into the beauty industry. I ignored it and life moved forward, I married my best friend, who for years kept pushing me to make a move in this industry. I was hard headed and I continued to put it off for an entire decade. I just had it stuck in my head that I wouldn’t ever make anything of it. All while still doing hair & makeup for friends, family, weddings, magazines and other events. Everyone told me I needed to go to beauty school that it was what I was meant to do and I kept doing everything but that. Every job I took was never enough nor was I ever truly satisfied or fulfilled. I finally took the leap of faith, took a job that allowed me to have the hours I needed to go to school. It was an uphill climb doing cosmetology through a global pandemic, four different instructors and the selling of the school it’s self all before graduation. I wasn’t going to allow anything to stand in the way of finishing. There were lots of frustrated prayers, tears and overall support from friends and family to help my through. I have to give credit to my grandfather, Peter. Without him, cosmetology school wouldn’t have happened. I was truly blessed to have him cover my tuition he saw to it that I would get an education. He has always encouraged me to find something I loved and make a career out of it. I can now say, that is exactly what I have done.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed cosmetologist that specializes in weddings day glamour, special events as well as hair color.

I am definitely known for my faith, and southern hospitality. I make it a point to ensure that each of my clients feels loved and special when they sit down in my chair.

I think the thing that sets me apart from most would be my faith. It’s the cornerstone of what I am and how I run my life and my business. My clients know that I am always only a phone call away to listen and pray with them.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Wow this is definitely a long list. The top of that list would be my husband, he has always supported every dream I’ve ever had, kept me level headed. Wiped my tears and been my advocate.

Mom, she’s always pushed for me to do this. Our relationship has had its ups and downs but one thing I can always say is she has always prayed for me, and believed that I could do anything with Christ.

My best friend Katie Lilholt, we have been friends for almost 2 decades and there hasn’t been a day that she hasn’t encouraged me, prayed with me and done everything to help me be my best self.

Our friends Tiffany and EB. They were my first “clients” they kept me laughing, let me cry, helped me study. Fed me when I mentally was drained and pushed me to do my best and reminded me that school wasn’t for forever.

My grandfather, he not only put me through school but would consistently encourage me and told me if I found something I was passionate about, made a career out of it, I’d never work a day in my life because I would love what I do. He was right!

Overall my family, as well as my in laws. They have always been so happy to see my succeed and supported my by coming to school for my practicals for facials, haircuts, colors you name it. They are incredible and I couldn’t be more thankful for their support.
