Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not entirely. Becoming a model/actress has and continues to prove a challenging task. One challenge is having the confidence to put myself out there over and over and do the promotion that is needed to obtain opportunities for photography, agency representation, and bookings/jobs and auditions. The field simply demands it and one must be brave to do that over and over. It is easy to compare oneself to other models and there is always a desire to improve. Another challenge is compensation and finances. Making money from modeling is difficult as to get started and gain experience and build your resume; a lot of opportunities do not pay or pay very little. And once you have agents and good materials to submit to bookings the odds of booking are not always great. It is difficult to make good, consistent money working as a model/actress. There are lots of ways to make money, however, finding a consistent job can be difficult. This is why many models and actresses must have other sources of income. Another challenge is that the booking rates (average) are low and thus many creatives can often feel overlooked. These endeavors definitely require resilience to keep going.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
You have to remember all the things that make you YOU as you’re chasing your dreams, and all the other things that make you happy while you wait for your next achievement or booking. You have to continue to indulge in the things you love and be patient because those “big” achievements only come every so often; so remembering to tend to the other areas of your life is important. This is something I still need to work on because I am very achievement-driven and sometimes it is hard for me to relax and enjoy.
