Check Out Amanda Mounts’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Mounts. 

Amanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Photography started as my first love. I found myself always wanting to take photos of everything that was going on. As I got older my parents realized I had a thing for cameras so they eventually came together and bought me my first digital camera. I used to always bring the disposable cameras to school and collect photos of Al the friends and teachers I would miss when school was out. As more years passed my passion for photos and cameras only grew. In high school, I was the top of my photography class and was also introduced to a dark room where they developed the photo prints. That was my favorite part of that class. Soon after I started experimenting with video, it allowed me to be 10x more creative. I found an opportunity to enroll at Full Sail and jumped on it without hesitation. I now am a senior filmmaker at Full Sail and will be graduating at the beginning of 2023. It’s been a long and rocky road but I see the finish line and I’m not stopping there. My ultimate goal is to own my own all-inclusive production studio. And get my brand MOUNTSMEDIA on as many big screens as possible! 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were many bumps in the road. Mentally I had stopped believing I could still make this dream and goal of mine a reality. When I was homeless for a short period of time it made me really think about where I’m going to be and how I would do it. But the fire inside me kept me going and now I’m healthy, happy, and have my own apartment growing little by little. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m known for photos and videos. I stated my business in 2012 while in high school. One thing I wanted to be known for was my creativity in photo and video. And that’s exactly how I’m known. I believe what sets me apart from the rest is that I don’t do it for the money. I do it for the craft and the joy on my clients’ face from what was captured and created. I’m now classified as a filmmaker and that’s what folk are getting used to knowing me by. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I have the worse luck. If something bad could happen in a situation it would happen with my luck. But I find ways to stay positive and always think how each situation can be a learning lesson. And then I learn from those moments and practice how to always move forward and not reminisce in the past. We can’t change what happened yesterday we can only be dedicated to what we will do tomorrow.
