Check Out Amarilis Rodriguez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amarilis Rodriguez.

Amarilis Rodriguez

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
My story started differently from most artists in my field. I was not into esthetics or cosmetology and never considered myself artistic. I was a victim of the 90’s brows! I over-plucked my brows so much in high school that they never grew back! I eventually had them tattooed, and then years later (2018), once the techniques improved, I had a powder brow done by an artist in Orlando. We talked about the industry, how she started, and how social media has helped build her clientele, and you can say I was inspired. I came home and spoke to my fiance about the field and how I thought it was something I could do. I ordered a book called “The Art of Microblading” and read it in a day! I did a ton of research and booked my first microblading course 3 weeks later. After finishing the course, I thought, “What did I get myself into?!” It was a lot more complex than I anticipated; however, I was determined. The rest is history!! After tons and tons of practice, I began taking models, and little by little, I have grown the clientele I have now.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I began renting a space and taking models in late 2019; in early 2020, we were hit with a pandemic! That was challenging! Marketing your business and growing your clientele does not always come naturally. It took a lot of trial and error, and I also hired 3 different marketers before I realized that no one will advertise my business like me!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a permanent makeup artist who specializes in brows. I wanted to be good at one thing, so I stuck with brows for the past 6 years. I offer microblading, nanoblading, and ombre/powder brows. I am most known for my natural-looking brows! Most of my clients are very natural girlies and rarely wear makeup; for that reason, I am super conservative with shape as well as color, and we can always build on that. I am most proud of growing my business and clientele to where it is today by only using and publishing my work and always being transparent with my clients regarding expectations. Everything stated above is really what sets me apart.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is that my clients have a good experience when they come to my studio and that they receive the results they’re looking for. Eyebrows are a big focal point for women, and I want to give my clients the confidence they want.
