Today we’d like to introduce you to Amely Chancellor
Hi Amely, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Indulge with Amely is more than a platform; it’s a love letter to indulgence, culture, and self-worth. Growing up as a Caribbean woman with roots in the Dominican Republic and Trinidad, food and experiences were not just about sustenance but connection, celebration, and storytelling. My dad played a big part in shaping this perspective.
He had a passion for food that went far beyond the plate. He made it his mission to ensure I experienced the highest-quality ingredients and flavors. From trips to the market to cooking at home, he taught me to recognize the difference between ordinary and exceptional and to never settle for less. It wasn’t just about taste; it was about the thoughtfulness and care behind every dish. That love for quality, detail, and indulgence became a part of me.
But as I grew older, I realized not everyone shared this same passion for creating meaningful, indulgent experiences—especially when it came to relationships.
Fast forward to my “villain origin story,” which began almost a year ago when I was consistently let down by dates and partners who didn’t match my energy. After one too many uninspired outings—like splitting a tiny tartare cone with a man who ate all the avocado off the top (still not over it)—I decided I was done settling for mediocrity.
That’s when it clicked: I didn’t need to wait for someone else to create the experiences I deserved. I could do better—on my own. Inspired by my dad’s passion for quality and my culture’s celebration of life’s joys, I started treating myself to the indulgent experiences I craved.
I dined at incredible restaurants, explored luxurious spaces, and went on adventures I once dreamed of sharing with a partner. It was liberating, empowering, and deeply fulfilling.
As I documented these moments, people began to resonate with my story—not just because of the beautiful visuals, but because of the unapologetic message behind it: you don’t have to wait for anyone to live the life you deserve.
Indulge with Amely grew out of my love for adventure, my cultural roots, and my dad’s influence. Today, it’s a platform where I showcase the best in food, travel, and experiences, inspiring others to embrace indulgence as a form of self-love. Whether I’m uncovering hidden gems in Orlando or sharing luxurious international destinations, I aim to show that indulgence isn’t about extravagance—it’s about intention and joy.
The moral of my story? Life is too short for mediocrity. If you want to live your best life, start now. Celebrate your culture, honor your roots, and never compromise on quality—whether it’s on your plate or in your experiences.
And remember: always feed your camera and your soul first.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! Like any journey worth taking, mine has had its fair share of bumps and detours. Building Indulge with Amely required not just creativity but also a lot of financial and emotional juggling.
One of the biggest challenges was finding the balance between my work life and my passion for indulging in and documenting experiences. Many of my early experiences were funded by my 9-to-5 jobs, but the catch was that I often found myself neglecting those very jobs to focus on creating content or immersing myself in the experiences I was passionate about.
It became a cycle: I’d pour my energy into crafting beautiful moments and content, but that same energy was pulled away from the “day job” that made those indulgences possible. The result? More stress, more juggling, and, at times, questioning if I could make it all work.
Another struggle was making sure I had enough resources to spend on the kinds of experiences that truly matched my vision. I didn’t want to just scrape by or settle for halfway. I wanted to showcase the best, most indulgent versions of life—but that meant constantly figuring out how to stretch my budget while still staying true to my brand.
Ultimately, these challenges taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of finding ways to make my passion sustainable. Every obstacle pushed me to grow and reinforced why I started this journey in the first place.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Indulge with Amely is all about curating and sharing indulgent experiences—whether it’s uncovering hidden gems in Orlando, exploring luxurious destinations, or savoring the best food and drink the world has to offer. My work focuses on inspiring others to live life to the fullest by showcasing how to embrace adventure, curiosity, and indulgence, no matter where they are.
What I specialize in is blending high-quality, elevated experiences with relatability. Whether I’m capturing the perfect shot of a decadent meal or exploring thrilling activities, I aim to tell stories that resonate and show people that luxury isn’t always about extravagance—it’s about being intentional and making every moment count.
I’m known for my ability to find those hidden, often-overlooked experiences that leave people saying, “Wow, I had no idea this was here!” I take pride in spotlighting places and businesses that deserve recognition and, in doing so, inspiring others to step out of their routines and treat themselves.
I’m most proud of how I’ve built Indulge with Amely into a platform that empowers others to see themselves as worthy of indulgence. It’s incredibly rewarding to hear from people who’ve been inspired to take themselves on solo dates, try something new, or prioritize their joy because of my content.
I’m also proud of the relationships I’ve built along the way. Collaborating with local businesses, connecting with people who share my love for quality and luxury, and creating a community around these shared passions have been some of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey.
What sets me apart is my unique combination of cultural perspective, storytelling, and unapologetic self-expression. My Caribbean roots inspire vibrancy and warmth in everything I do. Add to that my “villain origin story” of choosing to prioritize myself and my experiences, and you get a platform that’s not just about indulgence but about empowerment.
I don’t just showcase places or food; I curate experiences that evoke emotion and encourage others to live with intention. My audience knows they’re getting more than a list of recommendations—they’re getting a guide to living life richly, authentically, and unapologetically.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was shy and often uncomfortable being my true self. I struggled with feeling different and found it hard to be accepted for those differences. I wanted to connect with others and be part of a group, but I often felt like I wasn’t good enough, so I ended up going mostly solo. I’d describe myself as an omnivert—I enjoyed social settings when I felt comfortable, but I also thrived in my own space.
Despite those challenges, my interests were always bold and vibrant. I loved fashion, luxury, travel, and cultures from a young age, and I was always drawn to unique experiences. My Caribbean roots and the yearly summers I spent in the Dominican Republic played a huge role in shaping my love for diverse perspectives. Those summers broadened my view of the world and taught me to embrace cultural richness, which still inspires me today.
And, of course, I was all about early 2000s MTV pop culture—think “TRL,” music videos, and the celebrity style of the time. It was a big part of my childhood and remains something I enjoy to this day.
Looking back, I can see how all these elements came together to shape who I am now. Even though I wasn’t always confident, I found joy in dreaming big, exploring new things, and embracing the beauty of individuality.
