Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Golston
Hi Andrea, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am an artist of makeup and Artwork. With my makeup I stumbled upon this when I was modeling and the makeup artist didn’t have time to do my face so I asked can I use her makeup and she said yes… and the rest was history. People started asking me to do their makeup. It took me a while because I thought I was only good enough to do my face. That was about 25 years ago and my first photo shoot I put together to showcase my makeup 💄 I winded up putting real buttons and one model, broken glass on another model and flowers on the other. lol My Artwork started in my late 30s… and that has been a emotional journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With my Artwork it started when I first created my first art piece and my mom said I need to get a real job. I made her a bouquet of flowers out of seashells on top of a mirror and I had to explain to her what she was looking at. I hung up the art piece and when she got sick she told my brother to take it down and put the picture of her back up. It broke my spirit so I put it in a box with other little things i created and didn’t have the inspiration to create until 9 years after she passed away.
I hung up my first piece in my makeup studio… and it was the reactions of my makeup clients that pushed me to believe that what I was creating was absolutely beautifully necessary to let the world see.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make 3D art work which is Created with mixed materials, resin, sculptures and mixed elements created and inspired by this worlds beautiful nature, positive energy and different cultures. My pieces are all one of a kind and I build my own framework base for my artwork. I’m most proud that I kept creating.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
When God has a purpose for you nothing can keep it at bay. God will always put things, situations or people in place through your journey that will bring you back to where you need to be.
