Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Robert.
Hi Anne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a little girl, I grew up watching my mom’s style hair. She inspired me so much that by the age of 10, I was styling my own hair. From then on throughout middle school and high school, I was always practicing on dolls, friends, etc. After high school, I started going to college for my bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, but after having my oldest daughter I decided to go for my first passion; the love for hair. I later graduated from Hair Design Institute in Apopka Florida, and the rest is history!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? No. Not really. For me at least. Attending cosmetology school all while being a wife and mother was intense. I sacrificed working for 10 months so I could complete the faster program. I was so overjoyed when I finally finished.
Some of the struggles I’ve come across now while starting a new business is managing a healthy work-life balance. I recently became a single mom. I have two daughters who are counting on me, so I work extra hard. Sometimes I have to remind myself to slow down, and not be so hard on myself. But as the Old Adage states, ” Pressure Makes Diamonds”.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
There are so many components when it comes to doing hair, but the main one for me is styling. Hair styling is like art, each client is different, and their hair is my canvas. My signature look is an elegant “updo” style, and that’s one of the things that lead me to work with bridal and event hair. One of my proudest accomplishments is being able to make my clients, especially brides feel beautiful on their special days.
I recently started Hair Essence by GLO Beauty, and my goal is to continue to be an amazing stylist, travel the world to style weddings and events, and grow my business into a major bridal company one day.
What sets me apart from others is my drive and resilience. I believe that I can, and I am willing to do the work to get to my goal!
We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
I believe “you take the risk or lose the chance”. I would say I’ve taken risks, in the sense that I’ve rejected what may have looked like good opportunities on the outside but would actually hinder or sacrifice me being where I need to be, and growing MY business. Sometimes it may be scary but you have to go with your gut instinct.
