Check Out Beatrice Medina’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatrice Medina.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello! My name is Beatrice Medina, and I am a 25-year-old living out my dream of being a professional Tattoo Artist. Ever since I was young, I always had an affinity for the arts. My first step into the art world began when I was a kid doodling on everything, I could get my hands on, from there I took an interest in music and began playing the violin. From there I went to piano and by the time I was in middle school I had taken an interest in guitar. I always painted and drew outside of my musical activities, despite being heavily into those arts I craved more. I wanted to be the best at what felt like a natural ability to me. So, I continued to explore the arts and ventured into musical theatre and 3D arts; like sculpting, clay modeling, and intricate 3D papercrafts. All of these things were so enriching to me, but I would always be left feeling disappointed when it was time to get rid of or move on to the next piece. Then I discovered tattooing! The idea of keeping art with you forever sounded so ideal. From the moment I knew what a tattoo was I knew it in my core that that was the career that I was meant to be in. From that day forward everything I did was in line with my newfound passion for tattooing. It was a tough climb, but I finally got my first opportunity as a tattoo apprentice when I was 19 years old. I started my journey in a cramped little flea market, it was an extremely rough start for me but my passion and drive pushed me forward to newer and better opportunities to grow and learn! That same passion and drive has gotten me to where I am today working in an amazing studio named Fallen Heroes Tattoo. I wake up every day so grateful for the things I have been able to achieve and every day I think of new ways to keep pushing forward and be the best artist I can be for myself and my clients who support me every step of the way! They are the real MVPs of my career. I can’t wait to see what this career of mine has in store for me!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have definitely had some rough challenges along the way. Especially in my first few years of my career. It’s not easy being a young woman in the tattoo industry. Many people still carry archaic views and traditions in their shops which highly contradict how today’s society is. Although I’ve been presented with some pretty tough challenges in the environments, I have in this industry. I never let it tear me down and stop me from achieving my goals. Those struggles have shaped me into the person I am today. I am grateful for every experience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional tattoo artist. I specialize in Neo-Traditional and Anime tattoos! I am proud to be able to provide custom designs and concepts for clients that nobody else can bring to the table.

What was you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very isolated and quiet. Making friends was always difficult because not many people had the same interest as I did and I always focused on my art. Most people took my quiet demeanor as rude or weird; I was a shy little gal.
