Check Out Brittany Dobbertean’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Dobbertean.

Hi Brittany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been interested in photography since high school, and in my early 20s, I started shooting on my first DSLR. Before turning my hobby into my career, I started taking photos of friends and family for things like senior graduation and engagements. Eventually, that led to dipping my toes into the wedding industry, ultimately leading me to where I am now with the babies. After their weddings, my brides would have babies and reach out to me for newborn photos. While I had a lot of experience caring for infants, I didn’t know the first thing about photographing them. But I recognized that if I took the time to learn and grow comfortable with newborn photography, I could expand my market beyond weddings. I took a few infant photography workshops and then did several free model calls to practice what I was learning. Over time, I grew to love photographing newborns more than anything else, and eventually phased out the weddings and moved toward focusing on pregnancy and newborns.

Please tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others.
I’m a professional portrait photographer focusing primarily on babies and their first year. Although I specialize in newborn photography, I also offer packages that include maternity, children, and family sessions and milestone plans to document the baby’s first year.

My whimsical, character-themed setups characterize my work. I draw inspiration for sessions from my clients’ nursery themes and often dress the babies up as their family’s favorite Disney characters. Themed sets are my “calling card,” as I’m located in Orlando and I service many people who grew up either visiting or working at the theme parks. I’m also known for my passion for safety in my studio. I recognize that when my clients choose me to take their newborn photos, they trust me with their tiny humans. That is a responsibility I take very seriously. I’ve invested time in educating myself on the safest ways to achieve the adorable newborn poses everyone loves, and I consistently implement those practices in session. I often hear from clients in person and in reviews that this is something they notice and appreciate. I also strongly advocate for safe posing practices with my online following.

Without formal photography training or business education, I have built a very successful business, which I’m very proud of. On a less serious note, I’m also proud of the massive prop collection I’ve managed to hoard through the years. I’m also proud of my relationship with my clients. Many are repeat customers. I’ve been photographing newborns for over 8 years, and I often see the kids I photographed as babies bringing their new siblings back to me to photograph. It’s so special to watch my clients’ families grow up from behind my lens, and I’m deeply grateful to them for trusting me with their babies and memories. I feel honored anytime a family chooses me to take some of the very first photographs of their baby.

I’ve worked hard to create a unique and recognizable brand. I love it when people say they can tell a picture is mine just by looking at it. I put a great deal of effort, time, and energy into every session, and I love creating a custom, personalized experience for my clients, which often includes setups I build myself. I devote a lot of time, energy, and care to everything I do in my work, and both the experience I give my clients and the quality of the images I deliver are a direct result of that.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
When I’m not taking photos of adorable babies, I enjoy painting and DIY/craft projects, traveling with my husband and singing with my local community choir.
