Check Out Brittany Sallee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Sallee.

Hi Brittany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The first time I got dressed up just to take a photo I was 14 years old. I asked my younger cousin to get the film camera and take some shots of me. She agreed and we went out in the driveway, I stood in front of my uncle’s white expedition, she began to snap photos and I was posing as if I had been doing it for years. Years later, as social media grew and expanded I continued to take photos and I told myself that I would start a portfolio. Well, one day a photo that I posted caught a photographer’s eye he reached out to me through Instagram and asked if we could do a shoot. I agreed to do it, even though I was a little nervous.

I knew that this would be the first step in me creating my portfolio so I pushed my nerves aside and followed through. During the shoot, the photographer mentioned that I was really natural in front of the camera and he couldn’t believe that I had never modeled before. Since then I have done many professional photo shoots, I now have a portfolio, and I’ve even done some modeling for a dress rental company in Orlando.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge I have faced would be my own self-doubt. It was hard for me to believe that I actually could become a model. When I was younger, I was told that I was too short to model and this was a lie that stuck with me for years, but I was actually using it also as an excuse of why I never went after it.

But in 2020 when everything shut down, I just sat there and I was like no, I have to go after the things I want because life is too short and too precious. And if you have a natural knack for something or you just love doing it. Do it! Don’t listen to the negative things people say about you and don’t believe the limits they put on you. They did not create your destiny and they certainly can’t take it away!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a collection of photos that display my personality and creativity. I also love to make visuals of everyday living which can be found on my instagram @brittany_janaee_ I enjoy telling stories through my photos and visuals.
