Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Verna.
Hi Carl, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My passion for fitness started about 10 years ago, when I was 21. I was tired of how I looked and wanted to make a change for myself. I started working out at the gym near my work without any type of plan, just to get started. I did everything from researching different workouts to how much I should eat. I was invested! When I moved to Orlando, one of the first things I did was look for a gym because it was my safe place. The one place where I can have peace and make time to work on myself.
Fast forward to today, it’s become bigger than I ever thought it’d be. I have a personal brand (StreetGrind) that’s all about improving yourself every day and becoming the best version of yourself. I reach a multitude of people across the world with my workouts and motivational messages. Having the ability to impact others the way I do is a blessing I’m always grateful for.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think success always has its detours and bumps and I had my share of them. The passing of my father 2 years into my journey is still one of the hardest things I had to deal with and still deal with. He never got to see me grow into the man I am today, but I know he would be proud.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a part time broadcaster on Twitch and content creator! I’m known for having an infectious blend of motivation and positivity! I combine that with my workout/food related as well as my streaming content and it brings multiple worlds together to a single place. It’s something my peers say they don’t see a lot of. I’m most proud of becoming comfortable with who I am and sharing that with the world, not worrying about any judgment from others. Somebody is going to not like you for what you do so you might as well be yourself.
What makes you happy?
Making an impact in others’ lives. You never truly know who sees your content on social media. You could make a relatable post or a motivational message. You may not get a lot of interaction on it, but a lot of people may have read it or watched it and the content made them feel a certain way.
I’ve received multiple messages where people tell me I’ve impacted them and I’ve never interacted with them before! I think that’s the biggest compliment.
