Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Basel. Christian and his team share their story with us below:
Years ago, a man named Christian Basel obtained a TARDIS for the purpose of taking pictures of it in places “where the Doctor’s TARDIS has never been before.”
As Christian would go to conventions, he would talk with fellow WHOvians about his love and passion for Doctor WHO.
His reputation and knowledge would lead to him to perform and host Doctor WHO panels at conventions.
What started off as a fun hobby, has become an international icon across the convention world and the WHOniverse called “The Legend of the Traveling TARDIS.”
This year, The Legend of the Traveling TARDIS “celebrates 10 year of traveling” and has amassed over 61,000 fellow WHOvians and still climbing. As a podcast, “The Legend of the Traveling TARDIS” premiered October 6th, 2018, the day before Jodie Whittaker premiered as “Doctor WHO.” They have produced over 160+ episodes which includes over 30 celebrities from “Doctor WHO,” and have expanded their podcast reach on iHeartRadio, Spreaker, Spotify, and many others. Just recently, they started their YouTube Channel last January, which has over 2100+ Subscribers.
The Legend of the Traveling TARDIS Radio Show continues to have a NEW LIVE episode every Tuesdays night at 6 pm EST. They describe it as having a “Doctor WHO convention panel every Tuesday night.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, I’ve learned lots of lessons along the way that I keep to myself, but the struggle is to keep going. You have to believe in what you do because doubt is the destroyer of dreams. And most importantly, to have fun, cause once it stops becoming fun either I have to remember why I’m doing this, or it’s time to pack it up.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m most proud of what we have done and how far we have come. What sets us apart? I think it is the question of every creator. There are so many talented people on the planet, so what makes people want to take their precious time and watch us, I believe it’s because we’re a diverse group of individuals with different takes. When we give our opinions on an episode, a subject, etc. you will get a different answer from each member of our team. I like that we provide a diversity of thoughts.
Honestly, my favorite response to our show is not necessarily “that was a great episode,” and don’t get me wrong, I always love those responses. My favorite response is, “Christian, I never thought of that.” I like opening people’s minds to things they didn’t think of and give a different take and having a great time doing it.
