Check Out Christian Yancey’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Yancey.

Christian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Photography has always been something of interest to me for years. I first picked up a camera when I was 21 years old to set off on a new journey. I started out by taking pictures of flowers around the house, but it wasn’t until I started to see improvement in my photo quality that I got fully entrenched in photography. I was on a quest to shoot the best pictures possible with the equipment I had, but I knew someday I’d have to upgrade from the consumer-grade equipment.

Over a span of a couple of months, I tried to watch every YouTube video possible and also received a diploma in digital photography. Looking into the future, I started to have dreams of being a professional photographer every night, doing all types of shoots for consumer products and even celebrities. Fast forward to today, you can find CRISCO’S WORLD work in magazines, online publications, and even album artwork for musicians. I am beyond grateful for every person I have done a photoshoot with because without them, I wouldn’t be able to take a stab at trying to follow my passion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my journey, photography has had one major challenge. That challenge was to find people that were available to help me practice with my camera. I was trying to transition from taking pictures of nature to taking pictures of people and I am so glad that one of my closest friends decided to be my guinea pig. We would literally be outside for hours practicing capturing the right exposure and depth of field on my camera. He was very instrumental in the growth of my skill as a photographer.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My company, CRISCO’S WORLD Photography, offers professional photography services and specializes in urban fashion photography. You can find my work in online publications, album artwork, apparel branding, and print magazines. I also do creative photoshoots, business headshots, and graduation photos.

What sets my company apart from others is that it is a black-owned photography business where we take pride in every picture we take and we offer a different perspective to mainstream photography. The biggest achievement I am proud of to this date is seeing my work in print magazines. It’s a great feeling to see your photos printed out for others to enjoy.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I can’t quite say luck has been a big part in my life/business, but I can assure you that hard work has been the secret to my success.
