Check Out Cory and John Booth’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory and John Booth.

Hi Cory and John, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We’re John and Cory, high school sweethearts from a small town in Mississippi. After college, we got married and together found a love for adventure and travel. We started Let’s Find Fun to inspire everyday people like us to travel the world. We believe you can find fun regardless of your location, budget, and time. We are always looking for a new restaurant, exploring another national park, finding local hidden gems, and experiencing tourist spots!

So far, we have lived in three different states together, traveled to over 37 other states, and have visited four countries together. Our bucket list is continuing to grow longer the more we explore the world. We don’t pretend to be expert travelers because most of the time, we have no idea what we are doing! We like sticking to a budget and traveling as cheap as possible without sacrificing comfort. We live in Orlando, Florida, and take every chance we get to travel. Central Florida has been home for almost four years, and we spend a lot of our time at the theme parks and traveling the state to find new experiences!

Let’s Find Fun started as a blog, but now we are on YouTube as well. We have over 10,000 followers on Instagram, and that is where our core community is. The reason we started our blog was because people we knew were always asking us for travel advice or planning tips after seeing the adventures we’ve been on. We want to continue to inspire people to find fun no matter how far from home they are traveling.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Let’s Find Fun was easy to start, and the road has been pretty smooth because it has always been led by both of us. We are quirky, awkward, and passionate about exploring the world around us, so we try our best to share it with our community. We have always had the desire to do and see more, no matter where we are. This passion for finding fun is seen in our local adventures, domestic travels, and our spontaneous international trips.

That is not to say we haven’t struggled with Let’s Find Fun. We have struggled to stick out among other creators doing the same thing. We have also struggled with timing. For example, there are so many things we should have done sooner. We have been to over 37 states, three continents, and four different countries. We posted some of those fun adventures, but not nearly enough. We recently joined YouTube, which we should have started on day one of starting Let’s Find Fun back in 2015. So far, YouTube has been an uphill battle with understanding the analytics along with the YouTube algorithm.

Social media can be rough, and a lot of the time, it feels like we’re standing in a crowded room screaming, “look at us,” when in reality, you have to take a step back and just be yourself. We can’t beat ourselves up for not starting sooner or not doing this or that. We have to remember to just create, and one day it will all be worth it. One night not too long ago, we looked at each other and pinky swore to not go on another trip without bringing the camera to create content. Finding a balance between enjoying ourselves and creating content has been another struggle. We plan the trip for ourselves, and we want to share it so others can do the same, but trying to create content while being present in the moment can be difficult! Part of the adventure of Let’s Find Fun is learning how to balance all of this, and we wouldn’t change that for anything!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We felt that what most travel influencers were sharing seemed unattainable for most people, and we wanted to share something a little more relatable. When you see all of the big Instagram accounts or YouTube channels traveling, it’s fun to watch, but we would always think, “oh, we can’t do that,” “we can’t afford that,” or “we don’t have the time for that.” We thought we would never be able to figure out the souks of Marrakech or that we would never be able to spend the night in Yellowstone National Park when it’s below 30 degrees and snowing. All of which we have done! You just assume that these big influencers must be doing it because they have XYZ experience, money, and friends or connections. We eventually decided to just go for it and figure it out as we went. Our community gets to explore new places with us while getting to see the real side of travel. We don’t pretend to know everything about traveling, and we are not afraid to ask for help.

We have shared some hilarious content with our community over the years, like our first experience in France. Our community got a laugh out of our lack of French and saw the Eiffel Tower sparkle every night. When we were in Italy, we had gelato for several meals! Probably our favorite memory was having to ride extremely uncomfortable camels (miss you, Charlie and Henry) for two hours through the Sahara Desert to spend the hottest night of our lives in a tent. We recently took a trip out West to live in a van for seven days and traveled to six national parks. We put the whole adventure in our stories on Instagram, and we have had several people tell us that we inspired them to rent a van and go on a roadtrip themselves.

Needless to say, our travels are not pretty and they don’t always look great but they’re relatable, they are fun, and they show other people like us that they can travel too.

What’s next?
The simple answer is to figure out how to make money with Let’s Find Fun so we can turn our weekend passion project into a long-term money-making career. We would love to take Let’s Find Fun full-time and travel full-time to create content. It would be a dream come true to do part-time van life along with occasional international travel. There are so many exciting places to explore in the United States, from the diverse variety of food in each state to the different landscapes throughout the country. I feel like the majority of people overlook what the United States has to offer, and they just need someone to show them that there’s something fun in every state.

We have three trips planned for 2022 that we hope will still happen! The first is two weeks in Japan, which has been at the top of our travel list for years. The second is a week in France for a wedding, where we also plan to check another one of the international Disney parks off our list. The third is our first cruise (for another wedding, actually) to the Bahamas. We will be sharing these trips across all of our platforms and are so excited about them! In the meantime, we plan to continue to grow. Let’s Find Fun and enjoy all of the fun that comes with it!
