Check Out David Regueiro’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Regueiro.

Hi David, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve grown up constantly listening to all types of music; I even play music to go to sleep. So, I’ve always been attracted to all different types of music genres and I can also relate to the same for people. I enjoy meeting all types of different people.

I’ve always aimed to please with my jobs and actions in life. From Entertainment to serving jobs. When I was in my mid-20s, I would always end up being the one to supply the music at house and family parties, and slowly started realizing I had a calling to please and bring people together through music. At first, it was just playing music off a playlist in which I’ve always been addicted to downloading and organizing music, and yet still never thought of DJing. I was more focused on my corporate career and trying to build on my retirement etc.

Then in about 2015, my best friend started DJing, and I was slowly drawn in. We started working together and providing entertainment services for private parties and wedding celebrations. Although he was more of the DJ and I was focusing on Lighting and Marketing. I started feeling the itch to learn how to DJ seeing how much fun it was moving people by choosing and mixing songs at the right time and creating a welcoming fun vibe bringing people together and having just plain fun with no worries.

So, I went out and purchase some DJ equipment and started practicing in my bedroom and at Private house parties While still working my corporate job. I was doing weekend gigs with my partner as we established some experience.

A couple of years later, I was offered a sub-contracted job with one of the Highest rated DJ wedding companies in Orlando. I started as an assist/backup DJ and in turn, learned the professional way of DJing/MCing in the wedding business.

I also picked up some downtown club and bar gigs to further grow my resume and experience in the DJ business.

I Now have quit my corporate job and DJ full time.

Now been with Soundwave Entertainment for over 5 years and am one of their top DJs. I also was able to open my own entertainment business Light It Up Events LLC. In doing so, I am able to continue to work closely with Soundwave and do other private events and weddings with my business-like networking events and charity events like The Annual Black and White Weekend for Children’s Base Camp Cancer Foundation.

Not only do I have a love for music and bringing people together, I absolutely love to travel! There is so much of the world to see, and quitting my corporate day job and working contracted and for myself has allowed me to travel to places like Thailand, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, and many of the states during my off-season in the summer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part, I can say I’ve been blessed with a smooth road. I have great support from parents, family, and friends, and although in business it can be really tough, I’ve learned to always be true to yourself and others and to never burn bridges, and many paths and doors will always open as long as you keep working hard.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Simply exploring. Going out with my brother and cousins on our bikes and getting lost in the woods and trails.
