Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Vargas
Hi Elena, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I actually started out as a makeup artist, just making small get-ready-with-me videos on TikTok and Instagram. After about a month of posting somewhat consistently, a photographer—@g_allen_photography—reached out to book me for a shoot with one of his models. We ended up working together regularly, and eventually a day came where a model couldn’t make it to a shoot, so I stepped in to fill her spot. That shoot ended up being published in Publica Allure, and since then, I’ve been in love with the craft and the ability it has given me to express myself in a new way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey in the industry has been pretty smooth so far, but definitely quick. I feel like things have gotten so big in the blink of an eye. I only started posting makeup videos seriously December 2023, got my first publication as the MUA for another model in literally January 2024, and have been consistently working since then on either other models or myself for my own publications. It’s a bit uncanny for myself if I’m honest. I’ve always been the type of person that kept to myself before this whole thing blew, but this industry has definitely pushed me to be more extroverted. I’ve met some truly wonderful people because of it, and it has opened doors I never thought possible. I’m just shocked by it all really, but incredibly grateful.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve mainly been doing modeling shoots, and that’s what I blew up for, however I’d say my speciality is my makeup artistry skills. What I’m most proud of though would be my desire to grow in this career path. I’ve been the one to motivate myself, congratulate myself, and love myself through all of this, and I’m glad to say I did this on my own. In terms of what sets me apart, I think it’s how I stay true to self. I don’t quite like to follow trends (I get very bored very quickly), so I’ve noticed by following my own path, I’ve created small trends myself. It’s very nice to follow the beat of my own drum.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Visiting Nifty Fifty’s in Philadelphia for the first time. There’s truly no better milkshake or cheesesteak out there. I’ve been nostalgic for almost a decade, have to go back.
