Check Out Eric Jordan’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Jordan.

Hi Eric, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, music had always played an important role in my life. When I was younger, I didn’t understand why I was so drawn to music. But as I grew, I learned not only how beautiful and powerful music can be, but also how amazing the creation and process is as well. I first learned this when I started middle school. I majored in band at my school and learned how to play the trumpet in 6th grade. Playing the trumpet was the first thing in my life that I was genuinely passionate about. Everyday, I just wanted to get better and learn more! Later in middle school, I continued to play the trumpet and also learned how to play the french horn. While learning and growing my knowledge with these instruments, I was also branching out and exploring other genres of music. Some of these being: hip-hop, alternative, dubstep, EDM, etc. I didn’t see it at the time, but learning these instruments, the other genres of music, and simply doing what I enjoy and love was only preparing me for my career in the future.

Once I started high school, I began thinking of what I saw myself pursuing in the future. I knew I had a passion for creating, even though at this time I didn’t necessarily understand how to create my own music. While I didn’t understand, it was still a set goal of mine to create my own music one day. So from there, I began to produce beats. My journey with music production all began on my phone! I never had any access to studio equipment or even a laptop, so I made all of my beats on FL Studio Mobile! This continued for the next 3 years, but once I was nearing graduation, I had to find my next move. I knew I was passionate about music, but I was unsure of whether I wanted to go to a music school or just continue to make beats on my own. After tons of thinking, I ended up moving to Orlando, Florida to attend Full Sail University! I am still currently a student at Full Sail, but I have learned more than anyone could imagine being here around so many creative minds. I strongly believe that I have also grown so much more as a musician and creative person overall. After everything I’ve learned since I was young, I can now produce, write, record, and engineer all of my music on my own! So far my journey with music has been so special to me, and I believe that my success is only going to grow from here.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road through this journey has been very bumpy so far! Just like life itself, music can have tons of ups and downs. Some struggles I’ve endured have been things like beat block (like writer’s block), struggling to make connections, or sometimes just having low motivation. It isn’t rare to feel like this often, but even when I do feel this way I keep a positive mindset and try my hardest to persevere through the difficult moments. This mindset improves more and more everyday, and it is has been very beneficial for me. Thinking this way always reminds me that no matter how hard I get pushed down, I have to get back up and continue to follow my passion.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a music producer, recording and mixing engineer, as well as a recording artist! I have always been known for my beats ever since I started making them. When I first really grew interested in making my own beats, I started releasing beat tapes/albums on all streaming services. One of my personal favorite projects is the Lost In Space Series (Lost In Space and Lost In Space 2; Homecoming). I put a ton of time, effort, and feelings/emotion into these two beat albums, so they have definitely been my favorite projects to make so far. Something that I feel sets me apart from others is how versatile I am. I love all types of beats and music in general, so I try my best to make as much as possible and never stick to one type of sound.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned how important it is to use social media for my music and brand. With everyone being home or distant for such a long period of time, I had to learn how to get my work out to others with only social media. While I was already active on social media, the challenge was creating new, fun, and fresh ideas for content and my music.
