Today we’d like to introduce you to Erik Gianini
Hi Erik, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Sure!
Well my father Bobby Dixon has been in martial arts for over 50 years! He started AMAA with a 5k credit card and now 30 years later we are still standing after tbh quite a lot. I started at a young age but really wasn’t into the martial arts and my dad used it as a punishment lol however when I got into middle school I was bullied pretty bad and after some bullies followed me home and beat me up pretty good I decided to take the Atrts seriously and asked my dad to train me. Now after 20 some odd years here I am running the dojo and I’m obsessed with all sorts of martial arts, teaching the next generation of ninjas.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Omg yeah it’s been hard! From the 2008 crash, to Covid, hurricanes etc we have had a lot of struggles however our dojo community continues to support what we are doing and keeping us alive and well.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a family owned and run martial arts dojo
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Flying up to Connecticut on Christmas Day to surprise all our family up there.
