Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve Perez.
Hi Eve, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Teenage mom who had just graduated high school… that’s where my journey began. I found myself pregnant right after high school and I knew that my college journey was going to have to be put on hold, I was actually enrolled in international Academy of design and technology to become an interior designer but unfortunately, I couldn’t move forward with that dream because I was pregnant. But I knew that I had to get some sort of education because I was going to be a mom so I decided to go to school to become a nail technician. I chose to become a Nail Tech because it was only four months of schooling and training and I knew that this career could give me the freedom to create my own schedule and also work from home. I didn’t want to leave my son under any strangers care so i felt this was the appropriate career for my situation. Once I graduated, I slowly started working from home and developing a passion for this career, and my passion led me to develop great skills in this industry. I mainly worked from home but I also worked at local nail salons where I met amazing people. Few years went by and I was a mom of three which pushed me to work even harder. After a few years in I found myself working full-time as a Nail Tech and had financial stability. Three years ago, I decided to expand my wings and open up a nail salon in a Kissimmee plaza, where I struggled initially because I underestimated what being a business owner was, but I pushed through and I have an amazing team. In 2019 I decided to join nail competitions which I won first place in one category second place in another category and third place in three different categories. I have been competing ever since it has definitely been a fun experience…
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I had two major struggles initially my career one was being a single mom and second was developing a great team when I opened up my salon.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am mostly proud that I was able to become what most people consider “successful” while being a single mom, I was also able to become a homeowner in 2015. I feel that what sets me apart from other people in this industry is the passion that I have for my career and the fact that I love helping people.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I didn’t have mentors in my career and that’s why I made it my homework to be able to mentor a lot of young women in this industry. However, I had a lot of support and help from my family during my career. I also have a great team of employees in my salon which are the motor to my business.
