Check Out Gary Brand’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gary Brand.

Hi Gary, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Having served for twenty years in the United States Army as a Veterinary Care Specialist and traveling the world, I noticed that every location I would visit had its own local legends. Some would have a haunted house, or a forest where some creature was said to dwell, or a mysterious event had occurred in their history.

Always having a fascination with such subjects, I began to collect them.

Upon retirement, and during the quarantine of Covid, I needed something to do and discovered how easy it was to create and publish a podcast. My wife, GoldieAnn, and I then began writing and producing a weekly show about the paranormal whether it is the Skunk Ape of Florida, the Menehune of Hawaii, or the ghosts of Savannah. The show is expanding and growing to now include an additional episode each Thursday of listener encounters or individuals in the field (authors, filmmakers, and researchers).

We also began publishing on YouTube and TikTok short videos about a cryptid/paranormal event for the day and will have a book individually published on 1 May (currently correcting the edits). Your goal for our newbie show is to expand to cover more cryptids, ghosts, and other mysteries.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No experience in producing a podcast and learning about the equipment, software, and how to reach an audience for a specialized niche.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Proud that so many people recognized in the cryptozoology field such as Loren Coleman recognize our work and participate as guests on the show. Also, loved meeting “fans” when we participated at Spooky Empire Convention in Orlando.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and are any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
That there are so many people out there willing to help.
