Hi Gustavo, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m Gustavo Salles, 40 years old, entrepreneur, and I’ve been working with live entertainment for corporate events for the last 20 years. Because of the enormous success of TV talent shows like American Idol and America’s Got Talent, many companies started reaching out to me, asking for a musical act in which their guests could participate. I thought: “Why not set up a karaoke with a live band?”
Since I was in the show business industry, selecting the most talented musicians and developing the concept of a show was part of my skills and know-how. In 2007, I launched the Live Karaoke® band and started selling the idea to my clients. Since then, we’ve been on the road for more than 15 years, hundreds of companies have been served, and thousands of shows have been held for corporate events.
We also put on in-company shows to help employees reduce stress. Our musical performances last about two hours, and among our main clients are Topgolf, Nike, Trident, and Pepsi, which hired us for brand experiences and to launch products at music festivals.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Working with live entertainment for corporate events is always a challenging road. Every entrepreneur might face struggles along the way, it is part of the journey, but those challenges move me forward and make me even more creative.
A good example was during the pandemic when we couldn’t do in-person events. At that time, I had the idea of adapting our live show into a 100% online experience, where guests could participate in the show from home using their smartphones, singing with the band, who played live inside a broadcast studio.
We spent two years streaming our shows for hundreds of companies in different countries and languages.
